It's cherry blossom season in Japan, one of the most anticipated times of the year. The country's awash in pink blossoms. One day there's a lot of bare trees and suddenly there are cherry trees wherever you look. The sight is truly amazing.

Because the blossoms are so short-lived, it's a huge party season. Beneath the trees (which are really everywhere), blue tarps blanket the ground and picnic-ers revel in the almost fine weather. Portable bbqs scent the air and the sounds of birds are drowned out by singing, chatting, and the popping of beer cans (or tea bottles).

Look below for a popular cherry blossom viewing (hanami) recipe that's perfect for spring. We made it just last weekend!

SQUEAL! Book 6 has a release date!

When Cherry Tucker volunteers to teach art at Halo's poshest independent living home, Halo House, she’s trying her best to stay out of trouble. However, what can a nosy girl do when Halo House's most famous resident, Belvia Brakeman--the ninety-year-old CEO of Meemaw’s Tea--confides in Cherry that the family tea empire is in jeopardy? Belvia suspects her daughter, the COO, has been murdered and she might be next. Cherry once again finds herself involved in a hometown whodunnit, where the secret recipe for acquiring tea might just involve murder.

I've been getting a lot of messages asking about our HOUSE HUNTERS INTERNATIONAL TV debut!
Question: When is it going to air?
Answer: We Don't Know! But we think it'll air on the HGTV channel in May.
The producers should tell us a few weeks before it airs. You can check the HGTV listings for the "Nagoya" episode as we get closer to May, but as soon as I have the information, I'll be sure and make a big announcement!
Thanks for all the interest!

Aspara-Bacon & Tomato-Bacon: A grilling treat

アスパラベコン トマトベコン

Cherry tomatoes (Golf ball size works best. Grape tomatoes are too small.)
Asparagus, cut in 1/2
Bacon, cut in 1/2
wooden skewers, presoaked in water

Rinse the vegetables.
Wrap a 1/2 piece of bacon around each tomato & secure with a skewer.

For the asparagus, bundle one or two asparagus halves in a 1/2 piece of bacon. Use 2 skewers and thread about 4 aspara-bacon horizontally (will look like a ladder).

Grill or broil for about 15 minutes until bacon is crisp.
Eat!
