AICZ ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
On March 17, 2016, the AGM, for the 2015 calendar year, was held at the Wirtschaft Neumarkt. Thank you to the 37 members who attended the meeting (existing 89% and new members 11%) and made the night a success. The evening began with a welcome drink, followed by the AGM. One of the first orders of business was the acceptance of the new constellation of officers and Executive Committee members by the AGM. President Jim Johnson with support from the Executive Board highlighted ran through the AGM agenda. Please refer to the AGM minutes for details.
After the meeting was adjourned, participants had a three course dinner in the Bilgeri-Stube. During dessert, there was a special guest speaker, Alison Turner from Toastmasters Zurich who spoke about her experiences in Canada and Switzerland.
2015 was a significant year for the club as we voted for the new Constitution and voted to change the club name to the American International Club of Zurich. We are looking forward to more exciting events in 2016 and growing our membership. We are looking for 3 individuals to volunteer as Standing Committee Members of the Executive Club. If you are interested in volunteering please contact info@acz.ch.

AICZ TGIF
March 18th
An enjoyable evening was had by all attendees at our club’s TGIF on March 18th at the Weinlounge Buonivini/Bellavista! Our guest speaker, entertainer Sylvia Day attended impersonating former Senator Hillary Clinton. She spent the beginning of the evening mingling and talking with the attendees while remaining in character. Sylvia, or should I say, Hillary then provided us with a delightful and comical monolog from the from the former senator's perspective. After the presentation, I overheard many of the attendees speak of their desire to see Sylvia’s show “50 Shades of Election Day” later this year.

Travel Alert, United States Department of State
Bureau of Consular Affairs, Washington, DC 20520
EUROPE
March 23, 2016
The State Department alerts U.S. citizens to potential risks of travel to and throughout Europe following several terrorist attacks, including the March 22 attacks in Brussels claimed by ISIL. Terrorist groups continue to plan near-term attacks throughout Europe, targeting sporting events, tourist sites, restaurants, and transportation. This Travel Alert expires on June 20, 2016.
U.S. citizens should exercise vigilance when in public places or using mass transportation. Be aware of immediate surroundings and avoid crowded places. Exercise particular caution during religious holidays and at large festivals or events.
U.S. citizens should also:
- Follow the instructions of local authorities, especially in an emergency.
- Monitor media and local information sources and factor updated information into personal travel plans and activities.
- Be prepared for additional security screening and unexpected disruptions.
- Stay in touch with your family members and ensure they know how to reach you in the event of an emergency.
- Register in our Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).
European governments continue to guard against terrorist attacks and conduct raids to disrupt plots. We work closely with our allies and will continue to share information with our European partners that will help identify and counter terrorist threats.
