Remittance Advice Remark Codes (RARCs) -  It is important to check your Medicare remittance for the following RARCs for each provider in your group so that you understand the payment reductions set forth for non-participation in the government programs. The reduction amounts will increase yearly based upon your current year of participation.
  • CO-237 - Legislated/Regulatory Penalty. At least one Remark Code must be provided (may be comprised of either the NCPDP Reject Reason Code, or Remittance Advice Remark Code that is not an ALERT.)   This is E-prescribing and PQRS.
  • N699 - Payment adjusted based on the PQRS Incentive Program.
  • N545 - Payment reduced based on status as an unsuccessful e-prescriber per the eRx Incentive Program.
  • N700 – Payment reduced for MU penalty.

NOTE: CO-237 is used for all 3 penalties and the remark code identifies which penalty it relates to.
Electronic Prior Authorizations (ePA) Available - The ePA functionality, the process of electronically requesting prior authorizations of medications, is available through Clinical. Implementing ePA in your practice will save valuable time and frustration and is available at no additional cost to you. This is extraordinary news as only a handful of EMRs are currently offering this functionality. Learn more about this feature today on our website or sign up today.
ASP/Cloud User Request Reminder - If you are using our Cloud product, remember that users can be added and deactivated directly from our website. If a user leaves your practice it is important to deactivate them not only for licensing purposes, but also to remove potential security risks since a departed employee can still gain access to your database through the remote app or web page portal from another computer. If you have additional questions about using the Cloud, see our FAQ page.
Bring Your Billing Into the 21st Century - Are you printing secondary claims on paper for Aetna, Horizon, United Healthcare? Check Change Healthcare’s list for which insurances can handle secondary claims electronically - check the box for “Accepts Secondary”, and then "View List*".  More details on setup can be found here.
STI Can Help with Revenue Cycle Management - Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) is about your people working more productively on items that matter, and improving their quality of work. For example, sitting on hold for 30 minutes or longer on an insurance payer phone line is low-quality work and not very satisfying to the person doing the job. Helping a patient solve a problem is high quality work that is less stressful and more satisfying. You and your staff can have more time to work on important patient and practice related items, and can concentrate on the clinical side of your medical practice.  Learn more here, contact us at 800-487-9135 x1188 or email jcerra@sticomputer.com.
