Welcome to this week’s e-news.
Last Friday evening Leanne and I attended the CIOB North East Annual Dinner at the Newcastle Marriott Gosforth Park with guest speakers CIOB Vice President Rebecca Thompson and television journalist John Sergeant. We would like to thank our guests for their company as a wonderful evening was had by all! I would especially thank Phill Beaumont, Chair of CIOB North East along with Branch Manager Nikki Silcock for their kind invitation and a thoroughly enjoyable time. Overall around £7,000 was raised for Cash for Kids which was absolutely fantastic!
On Tuesday morning we held the Generation4Change North East ‘Current Demands of the Industry’ seminar at Tyneside Cinema with a fine array of speakers each focussing on their experiences and journeys towards implementing BIM into their organisations. I would like to thank Michael Pittuck, Esh Group; Laura Brown, Bowmer & Kirkland; Dave Monswhite, Turner & Townsend; Natacha Redon, Identity Consult and Nick Craggs, Space Group for all of their brilliant and insightful presentations. I would also like to thank Natalie Keyes, Chair of G4C NE for chairing this event. If you would like further information on how to become more involved with G4C please speak with Leanne.
Also on Tuesday I was in London for the Constructing Excellence Board meeting to discuss the organisations future plans. It will be good to see these roll out in the forthcoming months.
Yesterday Leanne and I attended NCT Skills to find out more about their Joint Enterprise Forces - Construction Employability Pathway and we hope to share more of this with you in the near future.
This morning I have been to a meeting on the development of new HE courses in the FE sector again we hope to bring more of this to you soon.
This afternoon Leanne and I are attending Portland Consulting Engineer’s Easter Reception at Tiger Hornsby and we look forward to seeing many of you there.
Next week will be a busy one with the run up to the G4C North East Awards on Friday 1st April and we would like to wish all those shortlisted the very best of luck!
Due to the Easter Break the CENE 2016 Awards shortlist will be now announced next week.
Finally, I would like to wish you all an egg-cellent Easter Break. I for one are certainly looking forward to the few eggstra days off!
