Welcome to this week’s e-news.

Last Friday evening Leanne and I attended the CIOB North East Annual Dinner at the Newcastle Marriott Gosforth Park with guest speakers CIOB Vice President Rebecca Thompson and television journalist John Sergeant. We would like to thank our guests for their company as a wonderful evening was had by all! I would especially thank Phill Beaumont, Chair of CIOB North East along with Branch Manager Nikki Silcock for their kind invitation and a thoroughly enjoyable time. Overall around £7,000 was raised for Cash for Kids which was absolutely fantastic!

On Tuesday morning we held the Generation4Change North East ‘Current Demands of the Industry’ seminar at Tyneside Cinema with a fine array of speakers each focussing on their experiences and journeys towards implementing BIM into their organisations. I would like to thank Michael Pittuck, Esh Group; Laura Brown, Bowmer & Kirkland; Dave Monswhite, Turner & Townsend; Natacha Redon, Identity Consult and Nick Craggs, Space Group for all of their brilliant and insightful presentations. I would also like to thank Natalie Keyes, Chair of G4C NE for chairing this event. If you would like further information on how to become more involved with G4C please speak with Leanne.

Also on Tuesday I was in London for the Constructing Excellence Board meeting to discuss the organisations future plans. It will be good to see these roll out in the forthcoming months.

Yesterday Leanne and I attended NCT Skills to find out more about their Joint Enterprise Forces - Construction Employability Pathway and we hope to share more of this with you in the near future.
This morning I have been to a meeting on the development of new HE courses in the FE sector again we hope to bring more of this to you soon.

This afternoon Leanne and I are attending Portland Consulting Engineer’s Easter Reception at Tiger Hornsby and we look forward to seeing many of you there.

Next week will be a busy one with the run up to the G4C North East Awards on Friday 1st April and we would like to wish all those shortlisted the very best of luck!

Due to the Easter Break the CENE 2016 Awards shortlist will be now announced next week.

Finally, I would like to wish you all an egg-cellent Easter Break. I for one are certainly looking forward to the few eggstra days off!

G4C is passionate about focusing on young people and showcasing the young talent in the industry. We are looking to celebrate achievements of this young talent and the organisations supporting and shaping the future leaders of our industry. Money Claims and Causation

Constructing Excellence in the North East are delighted to be launching the region’s own Construction Clients’ Group (CCG) and would be delighted if you would attend the launch event on Wednesday 6th April at the e.volve business centre at Rainton Bridge.

The Construction Clients’ Group (CCG) is at the heart of Constructing Excellence as the body for all public and private sector clients’ to improve the value for money they get. It is the only dedicated client body combining public and private sector clients promoting best practice and industry improvements.

Speakers for the launch include

NEBOSH  National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety 

Start Date 20th April 2016 (Day Release on Wednesday’s x 14weeks)

The NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety is established as a leading health and safety ward for the construction industry, with over 12,000 successful candidates since 1989. 
The NEBOSH National Construction Certificate is chosen by many larger construction organisations as a key part of their supervisory or management development programme. This qualification will also help smaller companies meet the requirements of clients and Principal Contractors.   

Who Should Attend: 
The NEBOSH National Construction Certificate is aimed at Supervisors, Managers and those with a role under the Construction Design and Management regulations 2015 within the construction industry who are required to ensure that activities under their control are undertaken safely.  It will also prove useful for those whose career is within the management of buildings who may need to ensure that contractors are working safely. Other industries such as utilities where temporary works are used also find this qualification appropriate.
