SC16 Technical Paper Abstracts due by Sunday, March 27
The SC16 Conference Committee solicits submissions of technical papers that introduce new ideas to the field and stimulate future trends on topics related to high-performance computing, including algorithms; applications; architecture and networks; clouds and distributed computing; data analytics, visualization, and storage; performance measurement, modeling, and tools; programming systems; state of the practice; and system software.
New this year
Double-blind review: SC16 Technical Papers submissions will undergo a double-blind reviewing process. For an explanation of this policy and guidelines for preparing your submissions, please refer to the following URL:

In particular, one important change is that all authors must declare their conflicts of interest (COIs) *after* submitting abstracts (by March 27) but no later than **April 3 at 23:59 Anywhere-on-Earth** (AOE). You will submit these COIs at the submissions site; you will see a link to do so after you submit your abstract (“My People Conflicts”).
In summary, the timeline of submission deadlines is:
- March 27 at 23:59 AOE -- Abstracts due (required)
- April 3 at 23:59 AOE -- Conflicts of interest due (required)
- April 3 at 23:59 AOE, with automatic 1-week extension to April 10 at 23:59 AOE -- Papers due (no further extensions will be granted)
Reproducibility initiative: As part of an initiative that aims to increase the level of reproducibility and replicability of results, SC16 invites authors of technical papers to volunteer to publish their methodology, code, and data with the paper, if their paper is accepted to SC16.

SC16 General Attendee Housing Opens Monday, April 4!
Hotel rooms near the convention center are always in high demand. We expect this demand to continue this year in Salt Lake City so you will want to make your housing reservation early. Reservations will be available for general attendees beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, April 4 (PDT). You will be able to make your reservations by starting at http://sc16.supercomputing.org/attendees/housing/.
A link to the housing reservation system will be available there once general attendee housing opens.
ACM/IEEE-CS George Michael Memorial HPC Fellowship Submissions Open
The ACM/IEEE-CS George Michael Memorial HPC Fellowship is open for submissions until Friday, May 1. Applications are sought from exceptional Ph.D. students whose research focus is on high-performance computing applications, networking, storage, or large-scale data analysis using the most powerful computers that are currently available.
Recipients receive a $5000 honorarium, travel and registration for SC16, and recognition at the SC16 Awards Ceremony. Team Applications for Student Cluster Competition due April 15
Students interested in demonstrating their high-performance computing skills on a global stage are invited to team up and sign up to compete in the tenth annual Student Cluster Competition at the SC16 Conference. The Student Cluster Competition is a high energy event featuring young supercomputing talent from around the world competing to build and operate powerful cluster computers. Applications are now being accepted and the deadline for team submissions is Friday, April 15.
Created as an opportunity to showcase student expertise in a friendly yet spirited competition, the Student Cluster Competition aims to introduce the next generation of students to the high-performance computing community.
New this year
New this year is the SCC Reproducibility Initiative, in which students will be challenged to reproduce a paper rather than run prescribed datasets. Students will be responsible for replicating results from an award-winning paper that was presented at SC15.

Panel Submissions due Sunday, April 24
Panels bring together key thinkers and producers to consider, in a lively and rapid-fire context, some of the key questions challenging the HPC community. Panels explore topics in depth by capturing the opinions of a wide range of people active in the relevant fields.

Don't just observe, ENGAGE!
SC16 is soliciting submissions for Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF) sessions covering a range of topics and are among the most interactive, popular and well-attended sessions of the SC Conference Series. BoF sessions provide a non-commercial, dynamic venue for conference attendees to openly discuss current topics of focused mutual interest within the HPC community with a deep emphasis on audience-guided discussion, professional networking and grassroots participation.

A New Format for the Vis Showcase!
SC16’s Visualization and Data Analytics Showcase Program provides a forum for the year's most instrumental movies in HPC. This year, there will be both a live display throughout the conference and a session at SC16 dedicated to the best of the submissions. There will also be a reception to give attendees plenty of time to enjoy and discuss this years great work!
