Young Conservatives for Energy Reform Monthly Newsletter
 As the weather gets warmer, the days get longer and flowers begin to bloom YC4ER is excited spring has finally arrived. YC4ER had a busy winter and has been working hard on the issue of clean energy.
With our shared missions, YC4ER partnered with the Christian Coalition of America to work together on several projects in Washington, D.C., over the past few years. The Christian Coalition of America (CCA) was one of the first conservative grassroots organizations to advocate clean energy reform. Over the past five years, CCA has had a known presence on Capitol Hill working with Republican members in both the House and Senate.
 It is extremely exciting to see the announcement and formation of the House Republican Energy, Innovation and Environmental Working Group. Twelve House Republicans make-up the working group with the stated goal to advocate and advance “market-based reforms that will grow America’s economy, promote cleaner energy production, and preserve the quality of our air and water”. The House Energy, Innovation and Environmental Working Group is an indication of the growing popularity for conservative energy reform inside the Beltway, as the upper chamber announced the formation of the Senate Energy and Environment Working Group, last fall.
The Republican House members making up the working group, include: Rep. Bob Dold (IL), Rep. Barbara Comstock (VA), Rep. Ryan Costello (PA), Rep. Carlos Curbelo (FL), Rep. Chris Gibson (NY), Rep. Richard Hanna (NY), Rep. Joe Heck (NV), Rep. Adam Kinzinger (IL), Rep. Elise Stefanik (NY), Rep. Tom Reed (NY), Rep. Dave Reichert (WA), Rep. Kevin Yoder (KS). YC4ER was fortunate to have New York Congressman Chris Gibson speak at our Conservative Clean Energy Summit, last October. We have scheduled a reception for May in Chicago with some of these House Environmental study members to be hosted by our Young Conservatives for Energy Reform Illinois Chapter.
 We are co-hosting a reception at the Republican National Convention with Christian Coalition of America/Ohio and the Ohio Conservative Energy Forum at the Hard Rock Café in Cleveland on Monday, July 18th which is the opening night of the Republican National Convention. We are very excited to be hosting this event for our supporters, our many delegates and alternates that will be representing our organizations at the convention and Young Conservative for Energy Reform Ohio Chapter. There will be legislators, national party leaders and clean energy leaders who will speak at the event. We are hosting our annual Conservative Clean Energy Summit this year on September 22nd, in Washington, DC at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill. We have a jammed packed schedule planned with many US Senators and House members, industry leaders and some surprise speakers speaking at the event. This event was so successful last year and brought in people from around the country. This year is going to be even better being an election year and taking this issue to Capitol Hill and the issue part of the presidential election dialogue. Registration will begin in May. YC4ER is thrilled to have so many leaders on our leadership team. We are excited to highlight Adi Sathi, who is our Northeast Chairman. We are featuring him in this issue of our newsletter.

YC4ER Member Spotlight: Adi Sathi, Northeast Chairman
Adi Sathi grew up in Southeast Michigan and has been a resident of the Great Lakes State for over 25 years. He first found a passion for community work and political activism during his time in college at the University of Michigan where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees. During his time as a student, he was elected by his peers to serve as the Executive Director of the Association of Big Ten Students, an organization that consists of the 14 Big Ten schools from 11 different states and represents over 540,000 students. For his work in this role, he was invited to the 2013 White House Youth Summit, selected as one of 40 student leaders to attend the AIPAC Campus Allies trip to Israel, and recognized by Red Alert Politics on their 2014 ‘30 Under 30’ list. Honorees on this list were selected based on the positive impact they have had on the conservative movement.
Adi transitioned his work in student government to the world of Republican politics after being elected to serve as one of the youngest committee members on the 11th Congressional District Republican Committee. As both a member of the committee and a precinct delegate, Adi has worked with the grassroots to help numerous Republican candidates get elected to office. Along with this, he also served as the campaign manager for Satish Bobby Jasti, the Republican Party nominee for Wayne State Board of Governors in the 2014 election cycle. This statewide campaign allowed Adi to build coalitions with various groups both inside and outside the Republican Party leadership structure. As a statewide elected Vice Chair of the Michigan Republican Party, Adi is dedicated to building upon the coalitions that he has already worked to create in order to help secure more Republican victories in the years to come. He has worked hard to grow the party and for his work in this role, he was recognized on Newsmax’s list of 30 Most Influential Republicans 30 and Under in January 2016. Along with this role with his state party, Adi is a 2016 Fellow in the Michigan Political Leadership Program (MPLP) through Michigan State University’s Institute of Public Policy and Social Research (IPPSR).
Capitol Hill Reception
 We were very honored to partner with Christian Coalition of America, American Wind Association and Defend Our Future to host a reception on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, March 9 th. We had over 300 in attendance that included energy hill staffers from the House and Senate, Young Republicans and Christian Coalition of America activists. We heard from great speakers that included Senator Chuck Grassley, (R-IA), Senator Lindsey Graham, (R-SC) and Senator Rob Portman, (R-OH). The attendees were very enthusiastic and were excited to learn more about clean energy and upcoming bills in both houses of Congress. A big thank you to all of our great sponsors.
YC4ER in Action
 It was an honor for our organization to be invited to the Republican Presidential Primary Debates in both South Carolina and Michigan. YC4ER leaders had the extraordinary opportunity to visit with the several of the Republican candidates one-on-one to discuss the importance of renewable clean energy for America’s future. Although we have not heard many of the presidential candidates express their positions on clean energy publicly—we were quite impressed with their knowledge of the issue.
