The Concert will benefit Ukrainian orphans through the non-profit organization "Sunflower of Peace".  The Program includes Ukrainian opera arias, art songs, folk songs and beautiful popular melodies: “Солов’їний Романс” (“Nightingale’s Romance”) by A. Kos- Anatolsky, Yolan’s aria “Гойя, Гойя” (“Goya, goya”) from Milana by G. Majboroda, “Ой, Не Свiти, Ðœiсяченьку” (“Oh, Do Not Shine, Moon”), “Глибока Кирниця” (“A Deep Well”), “Київський Вальс” (“Kiev Waltz”), and “Рiдна Мати Моя” (“My Dear Mother”) by P. Majboroda, and others.  

Olga Lisovskaya, soprano, is a native of Kiev, Ukraine. Hailed by critics as a “wonderful coloratura soprano with the flexibility to caress the highest range notes,” Olga Lisovskaya’s most recent operatic highlights is the role of Oksana in the New England premiere of the First National Ukrainian Opera Cossack Beyond the Danube by S. Hulak-Artemovsky with the  award-winning Commonwealth Lyric Theater, as part of Newton Festival of the Arts. Other operatic roles include Rimsky-Korsakov’s title role Snow Maiden with Lowell Opera House,  Brigitta in P. Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta with the International Rachmaninoff Music Festival, and Amy in Little Women with Boston Opera Collaborative. Ms. Lisovskaya has performed a number of recitals and concerts, sharing the stage with the world-renowned singers from Bolshoi Theater, Metropolitan Opera and LaScala. Ms. Lisovskaya received B.A. in International Politics and Economics from Middlebury College, Certificate from L’Institut des Sciences Politiques, Paris, France, and Certificate from Ecole Normale de Musique d’A. Cortot in Paris, France. She has been a finalist and a winner of several vocal competitions.  In addition to her performing career, Ms. Lisovskaya is Executive Director of Commonwealth Lyric Theater, a voice teacher and a Mother of two sons. 


A remarkable pianist Boris Fogel was the main accompanist for the “Moscow Concert” organization for 40 years. He travelled the world accompanying Soviet Union’s outstanding singers, dramatic actors, instrumentalists and artists of different genres. After moving to the United States Mr. Fogel continues to have a very busy schedule. He is in high demand as an accompanist among professional singers and instrumentalists. In addition, he became a researcher, advocate and promoter of the best achievements of Russian culture from 1960 to present day. A few years ago, he published his successful book “A Concertmeister’s Notes”. 

Boris and Olga have been performing together for the past 12 years. 
                The Concert will take place at the beautiful Newton City Hall.                      There is plenty of free parking.
