Fonda, NY – The Montgomery County Industrial Development Agency (MCIDA) has been awarded two grants of $9,875 and $5,400 from National Grid's Cooperative Business Recruitment Program. Together, these grants will help the MCIDA implement its 2016 economic development marketing initiatives and offset a total cost of $30,550.

The marketing campaign and strategies are a continuation of the previous year’s initiatives, and are built off of the findings from a two-year strategic branding project study completed by North Star Destination Strategies. The MCIDA partnered with National Grid to finance that initiative as well.

"National Grid's matching grant programs have been a tremendous asset to the MCIDA over the years in making our ongoing marketing efforts financially feasible,” MCIDA Executive Director Ken Rose said.

The MCIDA continues to partner with ABC Creative Group to further develop its rebranding efforts. ABC will assist the MCIDA with ongoing public relations and marketing to increase awareness, ensure quality coverage, and showcase regional assets and resources. The initiatives will include website and social media content creation, lead generation, search engine optimization marketing tactics and video production for business and industry spotlights.

“I want to thank National Grid for their continued partnership with the County,” said County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort.  “These two grants help provide the MCIDA with the resources to strengthen our economic development marketing efforts and continue to showcase the positives of doing business in Montgomery County. ABC Creative Group has done a fantastic job in capturing the essence of what our region has to offer, in hopes of attracting additional investment and I’m confident they will continue to bolster our marketing campaign.”

“Montgomery County has solid assets for attracting new business and just needed the right marketing tools to communicate those unique selling points,” ABC Owner and Creative Director Travis Bort said. “We’re proud to have our creative and strategic marketing talents be a part of this great opportunity for economic development.”

National Grid is aware that regional, county and local economic development organizations have limited resources to devote to marketing their communities to draw investment. The Cooperative Business Recruitment Program provides matching funds for joint marketing initiatives between National Grid and economic development partners. The funding helps to promote community attributes and resources that represent a major asset for business attraction, investment and job opportunities in National Grid’s upstate New York service territory.

"National Grid's economic development programs fund a variety of important activities, not the least of which is marketing and sales by local organizations like MCIDA,” said Melanie Littlejohn, National Grid Regional Executive, upstate New York.  “Investing in projects like this helps our regions grow. As a part of the community’s we provide service to, it is in National Grid’s interest to support local needs like this."
