March 2016 Meeting Summary

Greetings MaSHers!

What a great turnout for the Quarterly Style!  A big thank you to all that entered a brew and helped out.  Congratulation to Ron for his winning brew and also to Mark, Steve and myself for placing.  The judging took up much of the meeting, but thankfully Shawn led some nice technical discussion so a thank you to him and to J&M for hosting.

The new Quarterly Style is Belgian Wit!  There will be a presentation of the style in the April meeting along with a technical discussion and the return of the feedback foyer.  The judging took up so much of the meeting that we may work things a little differently next time with judging done outside of the meeting.  This could mean earlier drop-off or bring it to the meeting and winners will be announced at the next meeting.  If you have an opinion let me know at marinmashers@gmail.com or at the meeting.  I'm personally leaning towards the latter option.

As mentioned in the meeting the marinmashers.com site is up and running with updates being added as time allows, the chain link button below should bring you there.  Some future pages include a reference section of board agendas and minutes, meeting summaries and newsletters, links to helpful/useful information and other resources.  Check out the site and let us know what you think and what you'd like to see there!

The April meeting agenda is still under review.  One question that I'm going to try to answer is can I fix my already kegged and carbonated ChardonnIPAy?  It's an IPA with a nice dose of diacetyl, rich and buttery like a true CA Chardonnay.  I'm going to see if I can clean it up post kegging and carbonating.  I have a before sample to bring to the meeting and hopefully a second new one to see if it was successful.  I'm also looking into ways I can avoid this in the future by looking for it earlier in samples so I know to just leaves things alone or warm them up. I think a beer CPR course is needed.

Our March newsletter can be accessed here - http://eepurl.com/bSsIDH

Please note you can pay your dues to Paypal using the button below .  We will no longer be collecting dues through Meetup as the fees are too high.

The April meeting newsletter will be coming out soon with details for the Quarterly Style competition (Belgian Wit in case you forgot from paragraph two), updates on the county fair and anything else that comes up before it's sent out.

Bottom's Up,
Damien

PS.
I feel certain I have forgotten something important, or maybe even a couple things, but I've already given my brain a couple days to remember without success.  It should come to me shortly after I sent this out.
