III. 2016 Funding Drive Theme Call Out

CKUT’s Funding Drive, which has happened every Fall, is a big celebration to pay homage to all our accomplishments throughout the year, and we need a theme to party hard!

We are currently seeking suggestions for this year's theme! Here’s an overview of the themes since 2010:

2015 - Radio Unleashed
2014 - Waves of Glory
2013 - Keep it Locked
2012 - 25 Years Strong!
2011 - All Over the Map
2010 - Horn of Plenty

Have an idea that rolls off the tongue (in both English and French), is radio-relevant, and sparks the drive to give? Send it to funding@ckut.ca. We’ll pick some of the ones we like and have you vote on your favourite!

IV. CKUT Delegation to the NCRC Call Out

SEEKING CKUT VOLUNTEERS TO ATTEND THE NCRC IN OTTAWA!

The annual National Campus and Community Radio Conference (NCRC) is being held by CHUO Radio in Ottawa from June 6-11, 2016. The NCRC is the Annual General Meeting of the National Campus/Community Radio Association (NCRA) but it is also an exciting yearly gathering of radio producers and activists from all across Canada. Some of the highlights of the conference includes a community radio awards gala and a full day exploring Equity in Radio.

You can check out the website for more info here: http://chuo.fm/ncrc35/

Registration for the entire conference costs $180 for the early-bird registration (before May 15th), or $50 per day. Please note that there will also be a free day of the conference on June 11th, so if you can get yourself to Ottawa, you can attend for free!

CKUT has a small budget to help cover some of the costs of the conference. If you would like to be considered for funding, please sent a letter of intention by Friday, April 29th, to hiring@ckut.ca explaining why you want to attend the conference, and how you could share and promote CKUT’s image and work at the conference. Please put NCRC in the subject line.

Additionally, the NCRA is allocating funding this year to subsidize the participation of individuals from communities who have been historically under-represented at the conference. If you are eligible for this funding, please read the info here. Deadline to apply is April 22nd.

VIII. CKUT listed as one of Best Radio Stations in The Telegraph!

The Telegraph publishes an article called "The best radio stations" and lists CKUT as one of them! They write:

"I first became aware of this Montreal-based station as the home of WeFunk - a long-running, addictive soul, funk and hip-hop show, which goes out live every Friday, and is also available as a dedicated internet radio station at http://www.wefunkradio.com. There is, however, more to it than that: CKUT's schedules bustle with fine, alternative-leaning music programming - from jazz and ska to punk, folk and heavy metal - all of which is accessible to stream, on demand, from their website."
