DEAR SUPPORTERS,
Excited to share the first SAMATA newsletter of 2016. It's been a busy year so far and we wanted to rethink the content. We hope you like the new direction. Thank you for your continued support.

SAMATA HOME
You asked and we listened. We tweaked the website, www.samatahome.com, to make the style pages more accessible, our global reach more visible and the online chatter more inclusive.

DESIGNING CHANGE DOCUMENTARY
We produced a short.  I am so proud to have worked with the brilliant duo – Suzy Amis Cameron & Brandon Hickman Photography, to co-produce the short video, Designing Change.
- Directed by Brandon Hickman
- Produced by Suzy Amis Cameron, Samata Pattinson and Brandon Hickman

- Narrated by Samata, the short is also on IMDB here.
The short video 'Designing Change' follows Suzy Amis Cameron's Red Carpet Green Dress campaign from its inception with the Avatar press run in 2009 through to the recent Oscars ceremony in 2016, which saw Sophie Turner and Lily Cole walk the carpet as ambassadors. For those not au fait with the campaign, Red Carpet Green Dress is a sustainable fashion design campaign, raising awareness about the global impact of the fashion industry on people and the planet. With design teams, sponsors, partners, students and experts alike, including the iconic Dame Vivienne Westwood, Penny Walsh and the Royal School of Needlework, the video showcases a committed network of fashion partners.

88TH ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS
I have always been passionate about red carpet fashion, I am not entirely sure why aside from the fact that working with luxury fabrics and exploring cut thrills me - give me any opportunity to get dressed up, and I'm all over it - so the Oscars

).hereI wore my own design to the Annual Academy Awards; as many of you know my eponymous label is going to launch soon (you can sign up
is always a chance to have fun with that concept. Find out more about the story behind my dress here.
Thanks to Lily Cole and Sophie Turner for being such fantastic ambassadors for the campaign, but also to our sponsors and partners including Earth Friendly Products, OKAPI, Lux & Eco and many more. You can find out more about their involvement here on the official site, but this write-up on an independent blog about the campaign is also one of my favourites.

OKAPI ICONS
I was asked to be part of the OKAPI Icons campaign by entrepreneur Hanneli Rupert. Earlier this year South African brand OKAPI, named after the elusive antelope otherwise known as the “African Unicorn” announced a campaign celebrating the modern woman.
I joined other women including Malée founder Zeze Oriaikhi-Sao, Ocean conservationist and free diver Hanli Prinsloo, Entrepreneur Veronica Chou and CEO & founder of Positive Luxury, Diana Verde Nieto (the company behind the Butterfly Mark, awarded to luxury lifestyle brands that take pride in their craftsmanship, service and design, whilst caring for their employees and suppliers) to front the campaign. Find out more about the brand here.
TAKE A LOOK BEHIND THE SCENES
We are so pleased to share our #SamatasOwn project! For me, fashion is a constant and exciting journey that I’d really love for you all to join me on. I’ve noticed that whenever I share images of an outfit, I get asked questions about what I’m wearing. Inspired by these questions, my team and I have been pulling together styleboards over the past few months to make it easier for you to discover and learn more about my favourite brands.
From now on I'll be sharing these boards under the tag #SamatasOwn (so you don't confuse it with my womenswear). We hope that they will encourage you to try new and unique brands and show you interesting new ways to style your outfits.

AU FUDGE OPENING
I attended the opening of the AU Fudge eatery in LA and with its shabby-chic vibe, Cal-French menu, cocktails & monitored kid's playroom, it was easy to see how the eaterie is becoming one of LA's best. The launch party alone was an absolute blast.
WOMEN FOR WOMEN CARBOOT SALE
As many of you know Women for Women International is one of my charities of choice for this year, earlier this year I dedicated my birthday to them. Last month, as part of Women for Women International’s #SheInspiresMe campaign, The Store and Brewer Street Car Park became home to the first ever #SheInspiresMe Car Boot Sale.
The #SheInspiresMe Car Boot Sale was a family friendly event with a Kids’ Car Boot packed with items donated by local schools.  We raised over £66K (!!) and I want to thank you to everyone who came and shopped from our car boot - it was an honour to join these amazing women. Alice Temperley, Charlotte Olympia, Bay Garnett, Hikari Yokoyama, Laura Bailey, Saffron Aldridge, Zoe Kuipers and I cleared out our own wardrobes and filled up car boots to raise money for the inspirational women survivors of war that Women for Women International supports.

Here is what Women for Women International had to say about the event and the women involved.
