VIACOM BREAKS NEW TERRITORY
An expedition of 21 millennials from around the world made a trek to the south pole this month through a global youth empowerment organization called 2041. The organization's International Antarctic Expedition 2016, which hosted Robert Swan’s Leadership on the Edge program, provided a unique setting for bringing youth around the globe together to discuss climate change. 
NICK PROFILES YOUNG ACTIVISTS
The HALO Effect

In January, Nick launched its HALO Effect docu-series, which profiles young activists who are making a positive change in their community and inspiring others to do the same. Now in its third month, the series continues to inspire kids nationwide through monthly calls-to-action and partnerships with nonprofits like Afterschool Alliance and DoSomething.org.
Because of Them We Can

In February, Nickelodeon partnered with Because of Them, We Can™ to commemorate Black History Month.The PSA campaign was featured across Nick's platforms, starring Coy Stewart of Bella and the Bulldogs and kids portraying distinguished African Americans including Rosa Parks and Malcolm X. MTV LAUNCHES GENDER BENT
In March, MTV's Look Different campaign launched Gender Bent, a series of bitingly funny animated video shorts featuring surreal animations and voiceovers by MTV News’ Ana Marie Cox, Girl Code’s Nessa, and actor Kal Penn. Focusing on beliefs about gender that are widely held and rarely examined, the three videos  “Pink is for Girls, Blue is for Boys,”, “Boys are Better at Math” and “Men Don’t Cry” – reveal important little-known facts: pink was long considered a color for boys, women played an enormous role in the invention of computer science, and crying was considered extremely manly from ancient times until the 20th century. 
VH1 SAVE THE MUSIC
VH1's latest STM Moment took place on February 19th in celebration of Black History Month and music education. Singer/songwriter Jennah Bell and singer/actor Rotimi left the Viacom crowd in awe. Afterwards, Trell Thomas of Save The Music led a Q&A in which musicians shared stories of their individual musical journeys.
Warner Bros recording artist and Grammy nominee Andra Day stopped by as well to give a few words and mingle with the audience, a pleasant surprise after having just watched her take the Grammy stage.
On March 16th, VH1 Save The Music took LA Fashion Week by storm in the cutest way, via partnership with Art Hearts Fashion for a kids-run fashion show. Young students from VH1 Save The Music’s local partner schools participated as models in runway shows beloved local designers including Victoria Atelier, Lil Jewels, and more. The event also featured a performance by singer-songwriter JoJo.
VH1 REMEMBERS ICONIC WOMEN
In honor of Women’s History Month, VH1 worked with artists from around the country to interpret and present quotes from smart, powerful females with their own unique artistic styles. All this month, VH1 has shared the art across social platforms which spotlights quotes from amazing women including: Frida Kahlo, Lena Horne, Janet Mock, Gloria Steinem, and Mindy Kaling.

This month, VH1 also paid tribute to Angela “Big Ang” Raiola, who tragically lost her life last month to cancer.
“Larger Than Life: A Celebration of Big Ang” featured dozens of celebrities remembering Big Ang and also included the latest news about the fight to end cancer. The ‘I Stand Up For’ sign ran on People.com and in the tribute special. Viewers also participated in the campaign by posting photos of friends and family who have been impacted by cancer and VH1 shared these moving messages of support.
LOGO'S "BEAUTIFUL AS I WANT TO BE"
Logo is proud to receive a Special Recognition Award at this year’s GLAAD Media Awards for its digital series Beautiful As I Want To Be.” The series, hosted by transgender model Geena Rocero (of Gender Proud), paired transgender youth with transgender leaders (like Caitlyn Jenner) to share their own identity journeys. The cast and crew of the docuseries were entirely made up of transgender professionals. Logo’s scripted series “Cucumber” and “Banana” are also nominated for Outstanding Limited Series at this year’s GLAAD Media Awards. And for the first time in nearly 10 years you can watch the GLAAD Media Awards – the biggest celebration of the LGBT community and images that move acceptance forward - when they exclusively air on Logo, April 4 at 10pm ET/PT.
BET CELEBRATES NATIONAL MENTORING MONTH
BET Networks and The White House Host Black Men in Media & Entertainment Panel
As part of BET’s partnership with My Brother’s Keeper Alliance, BET partnered with The White House to host a Black Men in Media & Entertainment Panel on January 21st. Hosted during National Mentoring Month, the moderated panel discussion featured senior executive leadership from BET Networks and The White House as they shared advice, insight and inspirational stories with 35 hand selected young men of color from local DMV area. 

 
BET Leading Women Defined Help Local Women Get Suited for Success
Hosted in Miami, BET Leading Women Defined kicked off this year with a professional development session in partnership with MasterCard’s community initiative, Master Your Card, and the local Miami affiliate of Dress for Success Worldwide. The session, titled Suited for Success, featured accomplished women who shared their secrets to success with the program's female Miami clients entering or re-entering the workforce.
MTV EMBRACES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
On Tuesday, March 8th, all content on MTV Discover was International Women's Day themed. MTV had a gallery of famous women and men who advocate for feminism alongside five first-person essays from: Gemma Styles, Juno Dawson, Laura Bates, Grace Victory, and Hannah Witton. The gallery also included a short interview with Grace Helbig discussing what feminism means to her.
NICK'S TOGETHER FOR GOOD CONTEST
Eight-year old Esteban (pictured above) was the regional winner in Latin America for the Nickelodeon Together for Good - Agentes de Cambio contest.
From June to December 2015, Nickelodeon ran its first international pro-social campaign, “Nickelodeon Together for Good”, reaching more than 150 countries in more than 15 languages. In partnership with Plan International, the campaign celebrated kids’ social-good efforts and inspired kids around the world to join the movement. The campaign also encouraged kids to submit videos showing how they are making an impact in their communities as part of an international competition. Kids were able to vote on their regional winner, and one global winner was selected to attend the Nickelodeon HALO Awards in New York City.

Kids from around the world chose Esteban as the global winner for his project, Mini Doctor! In just 3 weeks, the campaign received more than 100,000 web visits with over 1,000 contest submissions, 76,000 votes, and 800 social media posts.
PARAMOUNT 
The Paramount team kicked off 2016 with a number of great opportunities for employees. In January, Paramount hosted a screening of the film Selma after volunteers shared their personal stories for the annual “I Have a Dream” career panel at Larchmont Charter High School. Paramount also saw a great response to its annual environmental initiative, the E-waste Drive, as the Green Team collected more than 1000 pounds of electronic waste from employees that can now be recycled. For National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, Paramount Fights HIV/AIDS hosted an impactful screening of Wilhemina’s War to shed light on the increasing need for education and awareness in rural communities. Lastly, Paramount returned to Van Ness Blend Elementary School for a popular project where volunteers recorded and delivered Audio Valentine Cards for its visually impaired students.  
VIACOMMUNITY LOVES TALENT FOR GOOD

To kick off volunteering in 2016, Viacommunity hosted several events promoting its skills-based volunteering program, Talent For Good. On February 26th, Viacommunity + Catchafire hosted the Talent For Good party for projects completed this past Fall. At the event, each team showcased and presented their work, from social media to design and everything in between for nonprofits: FIGMENT NYC, Musicians On Call, the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund, and Unlocking Futures.
