Give Local Missoula County: May 3rd

Foundation for Community Health will once again participate in Give Local Missoula County, a 24-hour online giving event that brings together donors and local nonprofit organizations. Give Local Missoula County is in its third year, having raised  $135,000 in 2014 and over $270,000 in 2015 for local nonprofit organizations. Nonprofits participating in this year's day of giving can be found at givelocalmissoula.orgPlease consider Foundation for Community Health in your Give Local giving plan!

There will be several donor lounges around town providing a convenient location to make your tax-deductible donation and receive complimentary snacks and other goodies as thanks. These locations can be found on givelocalmissoula.org, as well as a list of hourly prize challenges allowing donors to award additional funds to a nonprofit of their choosing. Nonprofits also have a chance to win an additional $500 through the "Best Overall Campaign" challenges. Currently, we are in second place in the "Best Overall Campaign" for the small nonprofit category.

You can help the Foundation earn additional funds:
1. Make your donation at a donor lounge and sign in under "Foundation for Community Health" to help us score points for the "Best Overall Campaign."

Scholarship Program
We are pleased to announce that the Foundation’s Education Committee selected 13 deserving and accomplished students to receive a high school healthcare scholarship award this year. Seven students received a $1,000 scholarship and six students received a premier $2,500 scholarship to be applied to their educational expenses as they begin their journey towards the goal of a career in a health-related field.  The students' accomplishments, as well as our volunteers and donors who came together to provide encouragement for the next generation of aspiring healthcare providers, were celebrated at an awards ceremony and reception on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Partnership Health Center. Congratulations to this year's recipients, and special thanks to our donors and volunteers!

Celebrating Safe Kids Day
Safe Kids Missoula participated in Missoula Family YMCA's Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 16 to celebrate Safe Kids Day. Safe Kids Day, presented by Nationwide, raises awareness of child safety education across the country in order to prevent childhood injury--the number one cause of death for children in the United States. Safe Kids Missoula staff and volunteers, along with our Coalition members Missoula/Granite County Buckle Up Montana Coalition and Montana Infant Swim, provided safety information and activities to more than 200 families and community members on topics including fire safety, home and pool safety, laundry room safety, pedestrian safety, child passenger safety and teen driving.

Healthy Kids Day is one of several awareness-raising events Safe Kids Missoula participates in throughout the year.
