Cricket has set the standard in children’s literary magazines since 1973—and they also do nonfiction! Aiming to tickle the curiosity of kids of all ages, from toddlers to teens, Cricket publishes an array of nonfiction titles focusing on science and ideas (CLICK, ASK, and MUSE), history and archeology (COBBLESTONE and DIG), and world cultures (FACES). Cricket’s core philosophy has always been that only the very best writing and art is good enough for young readers, and that curiosity, wonder, and a sense of humor are the very best keys to knowledge.

Their discovery magazines are always looking for writers and artists eager to share their passion for nonfiction with curious young readers. Cricket welcomes experts in the field, new talent, and writers looking to explore the world of children’s nonfiction magazines. Check out full descriptions of each magazine, upcoming issue themes, and calls for submissions to all their magazines at www.cricketmedia.com/submission-guidelines.
Johanna Arnone is the editor of Muse, an award-winning, STEAM-focused magazine published by Cricket Media. The past editor of Odyssey, Johanna is a graduate of McGill University and Vermont College’s Writing for Children and Young Adults MFA program. Previously, she was chief content officer at a custom publishing company specializing in health and nutrition. Muse’s young readers push her to inquire deeply and to have more fun than should be allowed at work. Johanna lives in New Hampshire with her husband, two children, and a pet they tend to think is a Catahoula leopard dog.

Johanna will be presenting these panels and workshops:
