Greetings from Judith Marcuse
Spring greetings to Friends and Colleagues!
As our five-year ASC! Research Project on art for social change (ASC) in Canada passes the halfway mark, we share an interim report with you. State of the Art is a snapshot of some of our findings written in non-academic language and created to provide an overview of some of our work, an addition to the many articles, papers and videos that continue to be created and published about specific aspects of the study. (Our most recent publication is Ethics in Community-University-Artist Partnered Research.) Topics in this document include scans of current activities in the art for social change field, overviews of funding patterns, approaches to evaluation and research, and initial findings about partnerships.

We thank the hundreds of people who have already participated in the wide range of our ASC! Project activities. In particular, we thank our partners at ArtBridges who have contributed valuable statistical and other information.
We look forward to any feedback and/or questions you may have (info@icasc.ca).
As we collate, analyze and create new text and video materials, including a new e-book, it becomes even clearer to us that there is a great need for more national dialogue and study of this fast-growing field in Canada and internationally. In Fall 2017, we will host a gathering in Ottawa that will take place on November 3rd to 5th. Please mark your calendar!
Happy Spring to everyone from all of us on the ASC! and ICASC teams!
Judith
