As we continue to embark on our 17th year at Charleston Community Sailing, it is with our heartfelt gratitude to you, our community of sailing enthusiasts, for sustaining the worthwhile work that has helped so many individuals gain access to the water.  We thank you for your continued support of our mission!

It's your chance to make an Impact!

Sailing is often linked with people from more comfortable backgrounds; however our programs are open to everyone and aimed at urban, working class along with minority youth to help close the socio-economic gap. Please join us on Tuesday, May 3rd for Lowcountry Giving Day 2016 - a day to unite the community by supporting the work of your favorite local nonprofit organizations. Make an impact by visiting text.gives/communitysail  or texting "communitysail" to 33923.

Time to Paddle

Last year we launched a SUP program and we are SO excited to get back on the water paddling.  Registration is open and classes will start the first week of May.  We will offer a variety of classes (FIT, FUN, YOGA) that will run 1.5 hours over a four week series.  Looking for some one on one instruction or small group options - we can arrange private lessons at your convenience.  Learn more or register for May today!

Learn the Ropes!

Do you want to spend summer 2016 on the water teaching others how to sail? Do you want to learn the ropes of teaching sailing and build your self confidence on the water?  Then apply today to become a Junior Instructor.

WoW {Women on the Water}

Temperatures are rising and so is the excitement for the upcoming series of Women on the Water.  This program is designed to give women of all ages and from all walks of life the opportunity to experience sailing in both a racing and non-racing capacity.  Learn the basics through a series of 4 classes, starting with the basics on land followed by sailing.   Stay in the loop by signing up online or joining our Facebook group for upcoming activities.

High School Sailing

Sailors have been busy this Spring, practicing and traveling around the Southeast as they prepare for Districts. Team numbers are smaller this Spring but those who have been sailing are enjoying longer evenings and sea life on the river.  North Points #6 Regatta was held at Pine Lake Prep and Wando sailors finished second overall.  Last weekend the female sailors from SOA, James Island and Wando traveled to Jacksonville University to compete in the SAISA Girls Championship. Next up is SAISA Districts to be held April 23 at Lake Norman Yacht Club.  Two teams have qualified from Charleston this year - Wando and James Island.  Sail fast! Now, if you are still wanting to sail through May we will have some open sailing opportunities coming your way soon or join us for $20 and sail on Mondays through May 9th.  More info.

Register NOW for Summer

Our 2016 summer sailing program with the Charleston Yacht Club is quickly filling up.  We are excited to offer a variety of classes suited to every level of sailor starting at age five.  We will continue to offer a STEM based Science of Sailing class along with full day Adventure Sail.  We hope you will join us for for some fun this summer!  If you would like to provide a scholarship for youth in need you may do so here.
