Mobile Black Spot Site Locator


The Commonwealth Government has announced details for the locations and time-frames of the 128 new and upgraded mobile phone towers being delivered across regional WA though the Mobile Black Spot Programme.  Mobile Black Spot Site Locator is a tool allowing communities to follow the rollout. It includes a map to let people search for base stations and information about expected timing.  Read More..

Internet Pilot Project


To increase your options and reduce the costs for shire residents, the Shire of Chapman Valley are investigating the construction of new infrastructure into the Shire that could potentially provide Internet services to parts of the shire that would be similar in quality and cost to the services that are currently available to residents in Geraldton.  Progression of this project is reliant upon surveying the community to gather information on current internet use, accessibility and speeds.  We would appreciate your input  via this online survey which closes on the 1st May. Chapman Valley Shopfront Open for Business


The new shopfront facility is now open for business with forms and building approvals having a fast turn around using the facility.  You can make an appointment to meet any staff member or councillor by contacting the shire office 99205011 or via email cso@chapmanvalley.wa.gov.au

Community Growth Fund Project


One of the projects funded by the Shire of Chapman Valley Community Growth Fund will involve a heritage workshop open to the community.  The Chapman Valley Historical Society are hosting the workshop with Heritage Consultant, Cathy Day.   If you have a special interest in local heritage, museums or special collections, mark the weekend of the 16th and 17th April on your calendar, it is promised to be inspiring, motivating and informative.  To view the various sessions over the weekend, click here.  RSVP's to Chapman Valley Historical Society. 

Community Recreational Area Update


Coronation Beach is expanding with four new camping bays available, a new access track layout for south bound 4x4 traffic and directional signage to protect the area and assist with evacuation if an unlikely event occurs. 
 
Centenary Park in Nabawa also now has a new BBQ which is a free facility for the community to use alongside the gazebo and water fountain.

Free Shower Head Swap


THIS PROGRAM IS EXTENDED until the end of April, then all showerheads will be sent back to Geraldton.  Click here for more information, or email Water Corp directly.

 

Boots For Change


The Australian Farmers’ Markets Association (AFMA) is auspicing a national awareness campaign that will use and feature BOOTS – any kind – gumboots, RM’s, work boots, riding boots, tap boots, cowboy boots, fashion boots – as the metaphor and iconic image to connect farmers, their families, farmers’ markets and rural and urban communities.
The campaign aims to support grassroots family farming and rural youth, so drop off your boots at the Geraldton Farmers Markets Maitland Park every Saturday 8.30-12pm during April.  There will be Boot Activities every Saturday in April.  Find out more...

Clean Clubs


This program offers free bins and educational resources to sports clubs in Western Australia. Littering at club grounds and sports fields can be a problem for clubs to manage, with the influx of people and litter at matches and games. It is one of the most reported areas of littering Keep Australia Beautiful hears about.

Author Visits Our School Students


The Shire of Chapman Valley Library brought together both Chapman Valley and Yuna Primary School students to meet author Elaine Forrestal. This event is hosted annually and supported by Library Australia.

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION FUNDING
The funding is open year-round and grants are limited to $1000–$5000. Projects need to increase participation in sport and active recreation or develop the skills of the people involved in your organisation or local community. Applications can be submitted anytime with a four week turn around for funds. Read more...


NRM COMMUNITY CAPACITY GRANTS
Community Capability Grants is to support volunteers to improve their capability to undertake on-ground work and to improve the governance and management performance of their community-based organisations. Grants over $10,000 close 18 January and grants up to $10,000 close 30 May.  Click here to apply.


REMNANT FENCING GRANTS
Provides funding to land managers to protect the habitat of threatened flora and fauna and areas of priority remnant native vegetation in the Northern Agricultural Region (NAR).  Click here for more information and deadlines.


ROYALTIES FOR REGIONS
Community Chest Funds are aimed at projects which help attract investment, increase job opportunities and improve the quality of life in the regions.  Large grants from $50,001 to $300,000 are available as well as one-off grants of up to $50,000 to support smaller local projects. GRANTS FOR ASIAN MARKET EXPORT
Department of Agriculture and Food have funding available for accessing the Asian Markets and better equip Western Australian agriculture and food exporting businesses to develop and implement strategies to capture export market opportunities and attract investment.  Applications close on the 21st April.  Go to DAFWA for more info...


COMMUNITY WELLBEING GRANTS
The Ian Potter Foundation grants are for innovative programs that work to alleviate disadvantage and promote the general wellbeing of the community. Between $50,000 and $100,000 is available before the 22nd April.  Read more...


COMMUNITY HERITAGE GRANTS

National Library of Australia are offering up to $15,000 for community organisations such as libraries, archives, museums, genealogical and historical societies, multicultural and Indigenous groups.  Applications close on the 9th May.  Find out more...
