CONNECTING THE CHURCH THE OTHER SIX DAYS OF THE WEEK

A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.--Proverbs 11:25

Variety Show and Flint Fundraiser
Plans are underway for a fun evening at our church with the intent of bringing people of all ages together while also raising money to help residents in Flint, Michigan, who are suffering from the lead contamination crisis in their city.

Save the date and mark your calendars and tell your friends: Friday, April 29, 6:30 p.m.

In addition to the variety show, throughout the evening we will be running a silent auction of donated items.  People will be able to write their bids corresponding to each item, and at the end of the night they will go to the highest bidder.

Help us make this night a success!  Here are 4 ways you can get involved in addition to simply showing up the night of the event.
  1. Sign up to be part of the entertainment.  Share a song, a skit, standup comedy, a story, or an unusual or bizarre trick.
  2. Offer an item for the silent auction.  Perhaps you can bake something.  Or you have a service you can offer.  Or an item around your house that might be of interest to people.  If you have connections to local businesses you might consider approaching them for a donation.  Most people have heard of the problems in Flint and this is one way we can unite to offer help.
  3. Help organize and display auction items.   We need some individuals who can help set up the auction items on tables and keep track of the results at the end of the evening.
  4. Spend a Saturday volunteering in Flint with others connected to our church.  Money raised during the silent auction will help supply residents of Flint with clean drinking water, health screenings, and fresh fruits and vegetables.  Our denomination and affiliated churches are well-connected in Flint and working for the good of the people to provide short term and long term help.  If you would like to go to Flint with a group to help on a Saturday this spring or early summer, let Pastor Jesse know of your interest.  They need volunteers to help with distribution of water and other items.

You can sign up for some of these things at the Information Center or contact Pastor Jesse (jessebolinder@gmail.com) for more information.
