April 6, 2016: What is God's Desire for You?

Dear <<First Name>>,

"Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!" Deuteronomy 5:29

Plain and simple, Abba's desire for us is that we would experience His full blessing and experience the joy of knowing Him. In fact, this desire is not just for us but for our children as well. However, there is a caveat.

The blessings of Abba are always towards us, but much of His blessing is dependent upon us to access it. As far as our salvation goes, that is a done deal. As far as experiencing the abundant life, much of that is on us. If we choose wisdom and walk in truth, the windows of blessing are open. If we choose foolishness and self-deception, we will continue to struggle.

I like to illustrate it this way. Blessing is always raining from heaven. It is Abba's nature. We choose to put up an umbrella by our actions thus keeping the blessing off of us. So how do you know if you are putting up an umbrella? There are three ways.

1) Take a look at your spouse and your children. Not simply a snapshot of today, but in any season. Does it feel like you are in a battle in your relationships? If you are single, how are your primary relationships (family, friends, and associates)? The blessing of Abba makes relationships work.

2) Do you ask others for wisdom or do you act like, by not asking, that you know it all? People that experience blessing are humble enough to spend time asking wise people questions and then acting upon the answers. Our own perspective is flawed. We are in the family of Jesus for a reason.

3) Are you experiencing a sense of His pleasure. When our thoughts go to the Lord, do you cower under conviction, guilt, and shame or is your face lifted up?

Pull down your umbrella. This is where the blessing begins. "Oh that their hearts would be inclined to fear me..." You can hear it in His voice. He wants the best for your life. If you are not experiencing the fullness, check yourself and make sure you are not the reason.

Here is today's reading.

Love,

Pastor Stuart
