Artist Lecture: Will Wilson

In his provocative work, Diné (Navajo) artist Will Wilson investigates the historical relationship of photography to the colonization of Native Americans. The Portland Art Museum invites you to an artist lecture where Wilson will discuss his ongoing photographic performance series Critical Indigenous Photograph Exchange (CIPX), which among other things challenges Edward S. Curtis’ classic portraits of Native Americans frozen in the past.

AIPAD The Photography Show

Join Hartman Fine Art at New York City's Park Avenue Armory for the 2016 edition of The Photography Show presented by AIPAD. Hartman will be showcasing contemporary work by Corey Arnold and Mark Steinmetz as well as vintage masterworks by photographers such as Berenice Abbott, Ansel Adams, Wynn Bullock, Harry Callahan, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Walter Chappell, Dave Heath, Peter Hujar, Conseulo Kanaga, Mark Klett, Clarence John Laughlin, Helen Levitt, Mary Ellen Mark, Aaron Siskind, Issei Suda and numerous others.

Marie Watt: High Desert Museum
A new exhibit at the High Desert Museum in Bend, Oregon, explores the Works Progress Administration (WPA) highlighting the history, people and impact of the WPA and will include relevant paintings and prints from the Portland Art Museum and an immersive scene from the Great Depression as well as a monumental new work by Marie Watt commissioned by the Museum in the spirit of the WPA.
