This spring, check out my new Dead End Job Mystery - Elaine Viets

The Art of Murder

Bonnet House, a Fort Lauderdale, Florida, museum, has a troupe of adorable monkeys living on the grounds – and they escaped from a bar.

This colorful museum was the home of artists Evelyn and Frederic Clay Bartlett. Evelyn took up orchid collecting at age 100, drank exotic Rangpur lime cocktails – made from Rangpur limes she grew on the grounds – and lived to be 109.

Elaine VietsThe Bonnet House Museum & Gardens is the legacy of Evelyn and Frederic's enchanted lives, preserved for us to visit. I'm not a fan of most museums – I don't enjoying looking at rich people's old furniture – but the Bartletts knew how to live and their house celebrates their zest for life.  http://bonnethouse.org/

I can't wait for you to read The Art of Murder, my 15th Dead-End Job mystery. The Art of Murder opens at Bonnet House, where I was a volunteer. Private eye Helen Hawthorne and her landlady, Margery Flax, are touring the mansion-turned-museum when they see Annabel Lee Griffin, a young, talented artist. Later, they also see Annabel's deadly end. Helen is hired to investigate her death. Was Annabel killed by her jealousThe Art of Murder Cover husband? Her best friend? A lover from her bohemian past? Helen has her own brush with death as she searches for this artful killer. Meanwhile Phil, her PI husband, sets a trap for a gold thief so slippery no one can figure out how the light-fingered gold lover breaks into 20th-floor condos.

The Art of Murder debuts May 3 as an e-book and a hardcover. I'll be in eight cities: Bethesda, Maryland. Fort Lauderdale and Delray Beach in Florida, as well as Florissant, St. Louis, St. Charles and St. Peters, Missouri, and Nashville, Tennessee.

My signings will raise money for the Tea for TEAM Food Pantry and the Municipal Library Consortium. I really want to see you this tour. It will be at least two years before I hit the road again. I'm facing a heavy writing schedule.
