Dear <<First Name>>
By now, all of the beautiful sand carpets from Holy Week are gone from the streets of Comayagua. The crowds that flocked to see them this year included Guillermo and our oldest son Sam. We have a few updates from their trip in this newsletter, links to some photos and an invitation to join us at Lowertown Pop on April 9th at St. Paul's Union Depot with over 50 other wonderful MN Makers.

But first, a quick reminder that we'll doing our April coffee deliveries on Friday, April 8. If you live (or work) in Minneapolis or St. Paul and some suburbs, we can add you to our free delivery route. If you don't live in these areas, we're happy to mail coffee to you. Just get your coffee order to us before noon Wednesday, April 6 by contacting us at coffee@vfamilycoffee.com or ordering through our website. Our next delivery date will be Friday, May 13th.
Holy Week in Honduras
Our oldest college student son, was unable to join us in Honduras over New Year's. Thanks to a flight delay and the airline vouchers we received as a result, Guillermo was able to go with him over his Spring Break instead. Their trip coincided with Holy Week, a time when all of Honduras stops and celebrates with beach parties and family gatherings. It is also conveniently the time when our next coffee shipment is being prepared.

To give you a feel for their trip in Guillermo's own words, here are a few of the Facebook messages he has sent during their visit:

Hi love, we went to see the sand carpets this morning, was amazing. Different and interesting. Sam is relaxing, slept all afternoon in the hammock

We are watching the soccer game with Sam and Sabel. The game is El Salvador vrs Honduras. Score is 0 0 but Honduras is dominating. Honduras just scored! My mom made fish soup. It was good and Sam enjoyed it.

Happy Easter. We are hanging out. It is very hot here. Sam is a little burned from going swimming. Everybody went. We went with Sabel, Chela and my parents. We stayed all afternoon swimming at a place near La Cuesta.

We just came from visiting the place where they process the coffee. Nice and big warehouse. I think we are planning to move the coffee to that processing place tomorrow. Here it is very hot now.

Hi, love how are you? We just came from the farm an hour ago. Very beautiful and hot yesterday afternoon. We went to the river to go under the water fall. The coffee is flowering very nicely and a lot. It is very hot here in the City. Sam is now helping Avilio bring the coffee to get dehulled. I am taking a break from unloading the coffee. Avilio came and my job was to label the bags as they are loaded.

Facebook also made it possible for them to send some photos from their phones, a few of which we've inserted into this newsletter. You can view more on our Facebook page, including some that show the process for how these amazing temporary art displays are created.
Lowertown Pop: April 9th
Guillermo will be back just in time for our April 8th coffee deliveries and to help set up and staff our display at Lowertown Pop at the Union Depot in downtown St. Paul on April 9th from 10 am - 4 pm. The event features a Minnesota maker market of local artisans and craftspeople - brewers, bakers, distillers, artists and musicians. Tickets are $10 pre-sale here or $15 at the door.

We had a fun preview of the event this week when we attended a MN Blogger Bash that was set up to promote the larger event. We gave out small 1-pot samples of our coffee to 50 MN bloggers, met some of the other wonderful vendors, sampled yummy snacks and had great conversations about our coffee. We hope you can join us on April 9th at Lowertown Pop. Check out these hashtags for more information. ‪#LowertownPop‬‪ #MNbloggerBash‬ ‪#MNmaker‬
Fewer than 20 bags left
As of the moment this email was sent, we are down to 19 bags of our holiday flavors, most of it (except the Elf Nogg) in decaf. So we're marking it all down to $5.00 a bag while supplies last.  Check our website for the latest inventory before ordering.
Direct more of your Payment to Coffee and less to the Banks - Switch to Electronic Check (ACH)
Now over 50 of our customers use electronic check (ACH) to pay for their coffee orders directly out of their checking accounts without the hassle of putting a check in the mail. Paying through ACH lowers our credit card processing fees significantly (only 20 cents per transaction for ACH, compared to 2.35% for credit cards and 1.64% for debit cards). It is more convenient and secure for you and eliminates the need for updates when credit cards expire or change. We benefit from receiving payment more quickly and consistently. If you haven't signed up yet, we encourage you to do so. All we need is your bank routing number and account number which you can send to us with a voided check or give us a call at 651-587-5356.
Climate Action: Eco-Theology for the Heartland
We know that theology isn't everyone's primary way of looking at the world, but since the theme of this newsletter is Holy Week in Honduras, and since Cathy's theologian brother is coming to the Twin Cities for the Mahle Lecture Series at Hamline University April 22-26, we couldn't help including it as our Climate Action post for this month.

Dr. Timothy Eberhart (aka Cathy's little brother) will be speaking at a series of events concentrating on the Midwestern bio-region as a space for theological reflection on the nature of God, redemption, and human vocation. Topics will include the Pope's Laudato Si Encyclical, an interfaith conversation on The Greening of Religions on a Tough New Planet, Worship and Workshop at Hamline Church, and the Keynote Mahle Lecture, Tuesday, April 26th 7-9 pm entitled "Eco-Theology for the Heartland: A Bioregional Approach."

All events are free and open to the public but RSVPs are requested.
