Energy Efficient Street Lighting

A milestone for councils around Australia was reached on 7 March with the 300,000th energy efficient street light installed. This has been a remarkable achievement, especially considering that only five years ago the number was a fraction of this.

MAV Procurement is proud to have worked with Ironbark Sustainability and councils across the state to achieve this significant milestone.

Procurement training

In March we kicked-off the MAV Procurement Contract Management and Excellence Series. The Procurement Essentials course was a huge success for all of our participants; some examples of feedback:

“The trainer knows his stuff, keeps it relevant and easy to follow. Great pace and left room for lots of discussion.”

“I will be attending future Procurement sessions!”

“Would recommend this course to others wishing to gain basic understanding of procurement.”

Our next course in the series is Planning and Specification Development on 12 April. This course provides more details on good practice principles in procurement planning and specification development, to ensure that the resulting contract arrangements are effective and practical.

Registrations can be made online. For further information, contact Zara Ahmed on 9667 5524.

What’s happening with LEAP?

The six Gippsland regional councils participating in the Gippsland Local Government Network (GLGN) LEAP project will be having their first regional workshop on 22 April where the focus will be the launch of the GLGN regional dashboard, and identifying potential collaborative opportunities at a regional level to support GLGN strategic objectives.

Benefits for councils and regions participating in the MAV LEAP Program include:

  • Visibility of category and contract savings opportunities
  • Inform regional collaborative procurement projects
  • Driving shared services delivery of procurement and other core services
  • Delivery of targeted support to each council and regions to continuously improve
  • Ability to monitor compliance with policy and probity performance.
