The Furious Light "live takes" EP

When last I wrote, I mentioned we were working on preparing some live takes for release. Since then, my brother Brian has been working on mixing several multi-track rehearsal recordings into a really satisfying representation of the band we took on the road in August.

Just now, our “Live Takes” EP went live on Bandcamp, NoiseTrade and YouTube. It plays like a cross between a band rehearsal and a full-blown concert. The energy and arrangements of these performances captures the live show we’d worked up; and, with a few *notable exceptions, represents our 2015 tour repertoire.

  1. French New Year
  2. Wise Blood
  3. Finally (Frames Cover Song)
  4. Enough
  5. Close To The Bone
  6. Deep Dark Secrets
In addition to the full-band renditions, I’ve also posted an exclusive outtake from one of the sessions on YouTube—the rough-but-very-fun rendition Yost and I did of Tenacious D's "Tribute" on a whim between some of these other songs. He and I were half-watching their November 3, 2002 gig at the Brixton Academy via the The Complete Master Works DVD while setting up the gear for our practice/recording in Minnesota, and I suddenly started playing this song. You can see in the video Yost jumping in as though we’d done this dozens of times, when in fact, we’d never done it before or since!

I hope you enjoy this collection as much as I do. I’m awfully proud to have played with this group of guys, and I’m especially grateful to “The Brians” (Ullman and Yost) for capturing these performances so well.

If you’d like to throw us a few shekels for our efforts, you can do so by purchasing the EP here.

If you’re cash-poor, you can download for free @ http://noisetrade.com/davidullman/the-furious-light-live-takes-ep

And… If you’re a streaming-only kinda cat or kitten, you can listen on YouTube.

In any case, please share with any/everyone you think might dig this music. I know I speak for Brian, Yost, and "The Jeff" when I say we dearly appreciate your attention and support.

Sincerely,
David

*PS: As I type this, Brian’s exporting the original studio tracks for high-energy crowd-pleasers “Graveyard,” “How The Story Ends,” and “The Furious Light” so they can be re-mixed by anyone who’d like to give it a go. Let us know if you’d like us to send you a DropBox link of the files. We’d love to hear what you come up with!
