It's April, and spring is here. Once again we are grateful for so much going on.  This month we premier an original project with saxophonist Peter Furlan; a weekly Funk residency at Quinn's; Mr Gone at the Falcon; the return of Thunderhead Organ Trio and a second in the silent film series at the Wherehouse and much more.

But before we continue I'd like to take a moment to remember the great Keith Emerson. Keith Emerson & ELP had a profound influence on me in my early days, showing that not only could Jazz, Rock, Classical music & synthesizers work together, but that they in fact belonged together. His death was untimely and genuinely tragic, and he will be truly missed by many, including this keyboardist. RIP Keith and GodSpeed.

& I are proud to premiere F.A.Q., a new quintet playing exclusively original compositions by Peter & myself, at Trumpets in Montclair NJ. Also featured is the Rockland Youth Jazz Ensemble. FAQ is Peter Brendler (bass), Richie Morales (drums) Pete Furlan (saxes) and me on keys; plus special guest Duane Eubanks on trumpet. $20 music charge plus $7 minimum; we start at 3 pm.

MR GONE returns to the wonderful Falcon in Marlboro NY for a very special show - a double bill with the Sweet Clementines. One of our absolute favorite local bands (they're from New Paltz), John Burdick (lead singer & guitarist) and I have talked about a double bill for years and here it is! If you don't know their music head on over to their Bandcamp page and have a listen. 
Mr Gone is: Peter Furlan (saxes), Ratzo Harris (basses), Terry Silverlight (drums), yours truly on the keys & synthesizers, and for this show the great Richie Morales joins us on drums.  As always there's no cover, and the Music starts at 7 pm.

Poet Gold presents Poelodies: Poetry, Spoken Word, Melodies, & Song: April 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of National Poetry Month, which was inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996.  Poet Gold’s poetry balances the written word with performance, delivering Spoken Word Poetry that is both transformative and entertaining.
