FRIENDS OF WATERBURY RESERVOIR RECEIVES GRANT FOR BOAT ACCESS GREETERS
Friend of Waterbury Reservoir (FWRes) is happy to announce receipt of a $1,750 grant to fund a Boat Access Greeter Program. FWRes applied with the support of the Town of Waterbury.
"Having a Boat Greeter available to educate boaters about best practices on the Waterbury Reservoir will help everyone enjoy our great resource, and this is an important part of our mission," said FWRes President Laurie Smith. "We are pleased that the Vermont’s Department of Environmental Conservation recognizes the importance of this program."
Smith points out, however, that the funding is not enough to meet the group's vision for the program. FWRes, which recently achieved 501(c)3 non-profit status, is seeking contributions from individuals who care about the Reservoir.
"We plan to raise at least 25% of the grant budget to get the most from the program," Smith said.
FWRes will hire a part-time greeter to serve one or more days per week at the Blush Hill and Waterbury Dam access areas from May to September. An employment application will be posted soon.
