POP is the Plymouth Octopus Project, and it reaches out into the city to unite community and voluntary services and get their voices heard. READ MORE.....
POP and POP ideas are a joined up service promoting voice and building capacity within the whole voluntary, community and social purpose sector
POP ACTIVITY AND POP THURSDAY NEWS
In this month on your behalf POP has achieved:
  • Building a wide range of collaborations - in sparking ideas, in conversation, as well as in dynamic action, with public health, GPs surgeries, planning, economic development and others to take our voluntary sector input into new spaces and forums
  • Continued to be supported by a growing VCSE working group who will be submitting the application to become a registered CIO by mid-April. This will become the new expanded, influential entity post-POP, that builds on the strong start made between September 2013 and the present date
  • Started a new Forum for Plymouth Partners and Funders in which the VCSE, statutory and private sectors can share data and directions in the city with strategic funding bodies. We are planning a number of ‘Dragon’s Den’ events, where we can share ideas and increase collaborations in the future.
We are currently working on:
  • Working with Transformation to gather voluntary sector, community groups and resident voices and views about the new Plymouth City Council Web site and digital platforms that are in development
  • Working with Public Health to promote the One You campaign launched on Monday 7th March. Please see this link for further information
  • Working with Transformation to look at the contribution that our sector makes to the Early Intervention and Prevention agendas across the City (work with children and families)

SECTOR SUCCESS STORY
Made in Plymouth Magazine

Made In Plymouth was created with the support of Plymouth Culture to showcase the vibrancy of Plymouth’s booming cultural scene. They began to produce a quarterly magazine which was distributed to cultural and community venues across the city - this proved to be such a success that the small team decided to expand and create a website so people could find the print stories as well as a more up to the minute report of events online. They have recently released their third issue and have expanded their team of contributors to be able to keep up with the increasingly active and exciting arts and culture scene in the city.

If you would like to learn more about Made in Plymouth, submit articles, artwork, events or just find out where you can pick up a copy then get in touch with the team via the website at madeinplymouth.co.uk  or visit them on Facebook and Twitter
