The expected attendance for this conference is 300. Modelers, software developers, owners, and researchers will address current and new practices in energy modeling and building performance simulation using existing simulation tools, state-of-the-art software, and innovative simulation research.
Building Simulation 2017: The International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA) will host Building Simulation 2017 in San Francisco, August 7-9, 2017. This is the 15th conference in the series that is the premier gathering of building performance simulation specialists from around the world. IBPSA has a membership of more than 4,000 and convenes a Building Simulation conference every 2 years.
First Public Review of ASHRAE Standard 209P Now Open
The first public review of ASHRAE Standard 209P titled "Energy Simulation Aided Design for Buildings except Low-Rise Residential Buildings" is now open until May 9th. The proposed standard describes a methodology to apply building energy modeling to the design process.
Hourly energy modeling is commonly used in commercial building projects, but is less common in residential projects where many designers use simplified less accurate tools. Now, hourly energy modeling—and specifically DOE’s advanced hourly energy modeling engine EnergyPlus—is poised to assume a greater role in residential energy modeling and energy efficiency.
Changes to Purpose & Scope of Standard 189.1 Open for Public Comment
ASHRAE/IES/USGBC/ICC Standard 189.1, "Standard for the Design of High Performance Green Buildings," contains minimum requirements for the siting, design and construction of high performance green buildings in support of reducing building energy use, resource consumption and other environmental impacts while maintaining acceptable indoor environments. Nine proposed addenda to the standard opened for public review on April 8, 2016.
ASHRAE, AIA Look To Future Of Energy Efficiency With Signing Of New MOU
Building on past outreach, ASHRAE and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, committing them to working together in a variety of built environment areas.
May 2-June 3: Certified PH Consultant & Designer Training
Join Passive House Academy for an 8-day training to successfully become an accredited Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer. This extensive training will be a combination of lectures by leading Passive House experts, group design and calculation exercises, and workshops.
May 9-10: 2-Day IES VE HVAC & Energy Modeling Training in Seattle
IES has announced that their VE experts will be hosting a 2-Day VE training course in Seattle, WA on May 9th & 10th 2016. They will teach you simulation techniques and methods to enable more sustainable design practices using the enhanced features of their latest release: VE 2015. IES is a registered GBCI Education Provider.
This five-day modular course is an excellent opportunity to deepen your DesignBuilder knowledge using features of version 4 of the software. The course is suitable for new and experienced users alike and is structured to give you plenty of worked examples so you can “learn by doing.” No experience with EnergyPlus is required.
May 24-27: Introduction to OpenStudio for New Construction Modeling
This 4-day online training course will teach students how to leverage the free NREL OpenStudio modeling ecosystem to quickly and efficiently generate flexible models for energy analysis. Students will learn effective modeling workflows for using the OpenStudio Sketchup Plugin to construct building form and fabric and assigning space attributes.
