FFV donates signed Matildas jersey for breast cancer research

FFV has donated a signed Matildas jersey to the Mother’s Day Classic – an annual fun run and walk raising funds and awareness for breast cancer research.

Established in 1998, the Mother’s Day Classic (MDC) is run primarily by volunteers sourced from the Women in Super network – a national not-for-profit organisation of women working in the superannuation and finance industries.

This year, the MDC is introducing an online auction as a new fundraising initiative, and FFV is thrilled to contribute a Matilda’s jersey signed by all 20 players involved in the recent Rio Olympic qualifying campaign.

Bidding is currently open, and is done via SMS through the MDC mobile site: https://galabid.com/mdc2016

FFV launches Female Administrator Mentor program

FFV is launching a female administrator mentor program for club administrators and committee members, a new initiative as a direct result of feedback from last year’s Women in Football Network 21st Century Town Hall Meeting.

Although there are already mentoring programs in place for referees and coaches, this is the first time FFV will run a program aimed at club administrators. It is also the first program targeted specifically at women.

Funded by an AIS Women Leaders in Sport grant, the program will be delivered in partnership with Leadership Victoria. Participants will be required to attend three contact sessions throughout the 8-month program, and will be matched with an appropriate mentor in order to build their leadership skills.

The program launches on April 18, or contact wifn@ffv.org.au for more information.

Does your club want to host a referee course

The FFV Referees Department is able to administer and provide instructors for any club wishing to hold a Level 4 Referee course (this is the introductory level course).

Clubs can host a course for 10 – 30 of their players, coaches, parents or volunteers. Any club which has less than 10 participants may wish to combine with another club. The cost is $125 per person.

Each course needs a classroom setting (club rooms) and a pitch so participants can complete the theory (3hrs) as well as the practical training (3hrs) components of the course.

If your club is interested in hosting a course please email referees@ffv.org.au with the details of the date and a booked venue for the course.
