Register for the Midwest Convening on Racial Equity in Chicago on April 25th.

The Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE), the Center for Social Inclusion, and Communities United are pleased to announce a Midwest Convening on Racial Equity that will bring together people from government, community organizations, and leaders from across the Midwest region

The Convening will feature local and national leaders on racial equity, including Glenn Harris and Simran Noor from the Center for Social Inclusion; Alderman Sawyer, Chicago, IL; Commissioner Garcia, Cook County, IL; Leon Andrews, Racial Equity and Leadership Initiative, National League of Cities; and Jennifer B. Ringold, Deputy Superintendent, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board; Julie Nelson and Dwayne Marsh from the Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE).

We’ll have a dozen workshops that feature experts from the field who are working to transform government and advance racial equity. Registration deadline is April 20th.

The Summit on Race and Equity: A Call to Government and Community

  • Date: May 16th-17th, 2016
  • Time: Sign-in and breakfast begins at 7:30 am; programming from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
  • Location: Curry Student Center, Northeastern University
  • Registration: $175 ($150 for teams of 5), with scholarships available
Led by a collaborative of community residents, organizations, and government leaders committed to transformation and healing, the City of Boston has joined a national movement to ensure that policies and practices that impact the lives of residents are just and equitable.

Join us for a two-day summit, May 16th and 17th at Northeastern University and launch an inclusive cross sector regional network to advance racial equity and ensure opportunities for all. We hope government and community partners from across Boston and the Northeast region will join us to share local and national racial equity best practices and policies addressing structural racism and develop policies and alternative structures that challenge unfair systems.
