Join us for worship!

A missional mindset, is an approach, an understanding that we must intentionally and with dedicated effort seek out, invite and bring others into a relationship with Christ Jesus. One of the ways we're doing such at St. Peter's is with our Powerful Praise worship experience. Please share with persons this opportunity for a radically different worship experience. Pray for it to be fruitful and financially donate to it that it may better reach out. Our next service will be on Saturday, April 23rd  at 5P. Join us for powerful song and scripture. Powerful Praise will be on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.

Theatre Review By Pat King

If you are ready to hear Jesus’ story set in modern times to Bluegrass music, you are ready for Cotton Patch Gospel at Taproot Theatre, running through April 23rd. As the press release says: “It’s not many plays that can get positive reviews from Rolling Stone and Christianity Today magazines. The role of Matthew, the narrator, is played by Randy Scholz with a first class voice backed by four able musicians adept on a variety of instruments.

Taproot Theatre is actually a reasonable commute from Bellevue at 204 No 85th near the corner of Greenwood Ave. and parking is free a block away. The touring arm of Taproot came to our church a year ago with one of their Christmas plays which was expertly performed by just four actors. The theatre company began in the 70’s with 5 graduates of Seattle Pacific University and have since continued to include the value of Faith in their emphasis. The box office number is 206-781-9707.

We have seen many plays at Taproot and we’re pretty sure you will enjoy this as much as Jack and I did!

UMW Spring Salad Social

Please join us for the UMW spring salad social to be held on Wednesday May 18, 2016.  We will gather at 5:30pm and share a salad potluck dinner.  Bring your favorite tea cup & saucer as we will be serving tea. Bring a salad to share which serves 6-8.  Rolls, dessert and beverages will be provided.  We will be visited by Janice Bronkema, Seattle District UMW President who will talk about the 150 years of United Methodist Women.  There will be a time for sharing stories about your tea cup as well for those who are interested. If you need a ride please let the office know so arrangements can be made.  As always all women are invited.  Bring a friend!

Pastoral Care

St. Peters’ UMC members,
If a member of our church has an extended illness and wishes a visit from Pastoral Partners, please consult Rev. Steve Baber who will assign a Pastoral Partner.  Annually In December our committee gathers in the fellowship hall to create gifts of love for the shut-ins. All members are welcome to assist us creating these packages.  Debbie Miller graciously creates cookie packages.

The Great Spring Yard Sale

The time is almost here!  The Great Spring Yard Sale will be on Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16.  Set-up will be April 12, 13, and 14.  Donations may be left in the middle room of the Fellowship Hall any day from April 1st on.

Help is needed with set-up which includes folding clothing and linens and arranging items on tables.  Some clothes need to be hung on racks.

We are also looking for some able bodied people to set up the tables on Tuesday, morning April 12th and to pack up leftovers and load on the truck coming from Northwest Center.  The packing up and loading takes about 60 to 90 min. beginning at 4 pm on Saturday April 16th.

On sale days of April 15 and 16, “arrangers” are needed to make the displays look nice after customers have rearranged things.

To volunteer for any of these positions, please e-mail Pat King at jm7041@comcast.net

Please plan to stay after church on Sunday, April 24th to hear about ideas regarding future master plans for the property here at St. Peter’s. You will have a chance to hear about ideas for future property use. Additional fellowship refreshments will be served. It is time to start thinking forward for the future of our property and considering what options might be available to us. All are invited to stay.

Moving Beyond Homelessness

Congregations for the Homeless will hold their annual luncheon “Moving Beyond Homelessness” at the Hyatt Regency 900 Bellevue Way NE, on May 6, 2016, with socializing beginning at 10:30 am.  Keynote speaker Tom Miles will share his personal journey out of homelessness.  All are invited.

St. Peter's Wish List

The Finance Committee has started a “Wish List” for unbudgeted items and services for St. Peter’s. Anyone can submit a request for an item or service to be added to the Wish List. It should be given to Pastor Steve who along with a representative from Finance and Trustees will review the request before it is placed on the Wish List.

Items can be funded by personal donation, by memorial gift, or by committee donations. If you are making a personal donation please make sure that this contribution is identified by the item name on the wish list and also with your name.

The first item on this new list are lightweight round 60” replacement tables for the Fellowship Hall. This item has been located at Costco and we need to raise approximately $2,000 to cover the purchase of 15 tables along with a cart. This started with seed money of $500 from the United Methodist Women memorial donation from Nancy Mahoney memorial fund. The UMW wanted the money to be used for something on her behalf instead of just using it for operating funds.

If you would like to contribute to this wish list, donations may be made through the Sunday offering or given directly to the church office and identified as Wish List Tables. As soon as the appropriate funds have been raised we can purchase these new lightweight tables.

If you or your committee have suggestions for the Wish List please direct them to Pastor Steve for review.

Dealing with Homelessness

In the news there have been conversations about ways to deal with homelessness. Eastside Cities have agreed to be responsible for shelters that are permanently in place as opposed to Emergency Shelters such as we have at St. Peter’s. Bellevue already has a permanent shelter for women at St. Luke’s Lutheran and St. Luke’s plans to expand that through Imagine Housing to a building on St. Luke’s property for 50 to 60 low income units. The Youth Shelter will continue in Redmond and a Family Shelter is planned for Kirkland. Through some reorganization at Congregations for the Homeless, a permanent shelter for men is planned in Bellevue.

Women's Fellowship

Next meeting of the UMW Fellowship Circle will be Wednesday April 20, 2016, from 10am-noon in the Fellowship Hall.  You may bring your own knitting or hand projects to work on.  Some of us are working on an easy project for young children at risk. Questions call Diana Wilson.  All women are invited.
