Booklet Spotlights Culture in Zimbabwe
Hivos Southern Africa in partnership with the Royal Norwegian Embassy (RNE) recently launched a booklet titled "Spotlight on the Culture Frame: Stories from the Ground," a culmination of eight years of supporting the arts sector in Zimbabwe. Sixteen arts and culture organisations accessed grants through the Culture Frame, which was one of the very few funds available in Zimbabwe that provided both institutional and programme support. Indonesia’s First National Coconut and Palm Sugar Industry Workshop
In Indonesia, coconut and palm sugar are potential sugar sources for more than 255 million people, but developing small-scale rural coconut and palm sugar production needs the involvement of government, the private sector, NGOs, universities and service providers. The workshop brought together 77 participants from different sectors who agreed on a roadmap to support small-scale rural coconut and palm sugar entrepreneurs. Read more

Hivos open contracting programme launched
As part of the Open Data movement, the opening up of contracts offers a revolution in public procurement. To drive this kind of social progress, Hivos launched the global programme on Open Contracting Data. This joint programme with ARTICLE19, funded by and in cooperation with the Dutch government, and in close cooperation with Open Contracting Partnership, supports independent journalists, hacktivists, artists, academics and civic watchdogs – in opening up contracting data and making them actionable and useful. Percy Emmett Puts Zim Creatives Through Their Paces
Renowned creative industry advisor, Percy Emmett, recently conducted the Nesta Creative Enterprise ‘Train the Trainer’ Workshop for the first time in Southern Africa in Harare, Zimbabwe.
