Second Lexington Location Opening this Month Like 💬 Family Practice Associates on Facebook

Family Practice Associates will be opening a 2nd location on Harrodsburg Road this month. The office is in the Baptist Health building next to Raising Cane’s.

We'll be staffed here with two FPA providers, including Todd Martin APRN. Todd will relocate his practice to this location full time this month.

FPA has a team for this year’s American Heart Association’s Heart Walk to raise funds for heart disease and stroke research. We need you! You can help by joining us at the Heart Walk on Saturday, May 14th at Keeneland. We are also donating and raising funds through the American Heart Association. Every contribution is tax deductible. 
 

Here's how you can help fight heart disease and stroke:
  • $25 gives 50 people educational materials on how to reduce risks for heart disease and stroke.

Welcoming Sue Jones-Larson

Family Practice Associates of Lexington, PSC is pleased to welcome Sue Jones-Larson, APRN to our office, effective March 14, 2016. Sue comes to FPA with over 3 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in the hospital and urgent care settings. After working for nearly 20 years as an RN in various departments of the hospital, Sue decided to further her education and graduated as a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner in 2012 from Eastern Kentucky University.

Another downside to having an overall warmer winter is that without a weed-killing freeze, high-allergen plants such as ragweed will continue sending pollen into the air. Similarly, mold spores, which typically go dormant in colder temperatures, will further contribute to worsening allergies.

Additionally, because El Niño has caused a wet winter, rather than a snowy one, trees and plants have maintained healthy root systems. This means that as spring approaches, these roots are also ready to release pollen earlier than normal.

"Certain trees are blooming that shouldn't be, and instead of tree A in April and tree B in May, they are all blooming at once possibly in March," warned Murray GrossanMD, an ear, nose, and throat specialist with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. "If you kept a careful Pollen Calendar last year, it is of little use today. Even  PollenCalendar.com is not keeping up."

In therapy, I hear peoples’ narratives about their lives. It really is one of the most interesting parts of what I do and it is an honor to be trusted with these precious stories. One of the most difficult challenges people face is when the narrative of how they thought life was supposed to be or how life was supposed to go, turns out not to be true or has been changed by something catastrophic. There is a feeling of being lost and unmoored when what they were counting on can no longer be counted on.
