 Matthew 14
I have been catching up on all things Crestview.  Listening to the passion and insight delivered by Dave Dawson and Eileen makes me smile with joy today.  We are off to a good start in this series of Drawing Near to God: A Journey through the Spiritual Disciplines.  Dave characterized these practices as ways to diligently seek God's will for our lives, that our thoughts would align and be His thoughts, his ways our ways.  Eileen described them as ways of communication and building relationship with God and with others.  These practices are ways to 'hunger and thirst for right-ness (righteousness)' in our relationships.  Love it.  As I sat in another worship service this week, the phrase "'Abiding' principles" came to mind.  Read that a couple of times and see if you get it.  These practices help us abide in God and they also have stood the test of time.  Biblically grounded and engaged practices throughout Scripture.  This week we will focus on Silence and Solitude.  This is a bit comical if you have observed me for very long.  Sometimes God whispers to me 'stop! and be silent.'  But most of the time I live as if he continually whispers, 'ride like the wind!'  And that's the point.  Jesus modeled for us the practice of silence and solitude.  Hard to believe anyone was more pressed with demands of time, work, and people problems than Jesus.  And yet, read Matthew 14 and look for evidence of Jesus withdrawing to solitude.  God longs to draw us to himself... but can we stop long enough to engage?  Where do we start?  Sunday is coming.

Children's Sunday School 10:15 am
Sunday School this year has been focusing on characters of the Old Testament. Ruth and Jackie have come up with a plan to help Crestview Children learn more in-depth about these characters.  This Sunday, we will be talking about one of those characters and how they are part of God's great big plan.

Download 10:20 am
After the Sunday sermon, please get your coffee and join Mark in the Fellowship Hall Library for a time of reflection and "unpacking" the sermon.

Call for Summer Session Young Children's Worship (YCW) Teachers
This is a volunteer position that helps teach valuable lessons to our younger kids during service. We would like to have 4 new teachers for the summer, offering to take one rotating shift per month (flexible). This allows for our gracious school year teachers to re-charge over the summer. If interested, please email Jackie & Ruth at children@crestviewchurch.org

Creekside Second Offering
For the second offer last Sunday $465 was collected for Creekside Church.  Thank you, Crestview, for your loving heart and generous spirit.

Elder Deacon Nominations
This Sunday you will find an Elder/Deacon nomination ballot in the bulletin and available on the hutch in the Fellowship Hall.  This nomination is the first step in the process of selecting new elders and deacons. It is very important that everyone participate in this process of selecting the people who will serve as leaders of our fellowship.  Please prayerfully consider your nominations.  The completed forms may be left in the Book Return slot in the Library.  If you wish, you may contact Debbie at office@crestviewchurch.org to have a copy of the form emailed to you.

Care Group Sunday, April 24
Please make an extra effort to be at church on the 24th as this is "Care Group Sunday."  After the service there will be no Download.  Everyone will break into their care group with their elder/deacon team.  There will be an update from council and time to ask questions and voice concerns.  This is also an opportunity to submit an estimate of giving for the coming year.

Spring Cleanup Day May 7
Please plan on helping out with the cleanup day Saturday, May 7.  We can use lots of hands to spruce up the grounds and the parsonage in preparation of Mark's family moving in.  Lots of chores--something for everyone!  If you have any questions please talk to Debbie.

Dinner for 8 -- Improved
We're making a change to this program!  We had an experimental group of 4 families with children who met last session and we're going to continue to offer this choice.   You'll be able to choose either meeting with Adults Only, Whole Families, or Either of the Above.  Groups of ~8 adults OR ~3 Whole Families meet for dinner once-a-month for 4 months.  Hosting of the dinner rotates among the group, and everyone brings food.  Our purpose is to build deeper relationships.  It’s also an opportunity to invite 1-2 friends you may have been wanting to invite to Crestview, and here's a chance to introduce them to others from your church in a fun setting.  Sign-ups end April 24.  Groups meet May - August 2016.  Find the sign-up sheet at the hutch in the Fellowship Hall or you can contact Muffie VanAndel (303) 444-7036 or
margaret.vanandel@gmail.com.

Moab Men's Retreat
Time is running out to sign up for the retreat.  Please contact Marty Huisjen at martinhuisjen@msn.com to reserve your spot.  This is a great event to invite your friends.
