In this edition, you will find several different resources that will assist your affiliate chapter with satisfying compliance requirements from RID as well as meeting your obligations under federal and state laws for nonprofits. Form 990 

Due November 15, 2016
Do you know what an IRS Form 990 is? You should. If you don't, we won't tell anyone, but explore the links below to find out!

Annual Reporting

Due August 14, 2016
HQ should be receiving a report from each AC annually. Below are the items that you must include:
  • Major AC events
  • List of sponsored/cosponsored events
  • Annual committee reports
  • Copies of letters regarding political actions
  • AC problems and solutions (not including grievances)

501(c)3 Subordinate Status

Is your affiliate chapter registered with the IRS as a 501(c)3 subordinate of RID? Peruse the links below to learn more and to ensure you're in compliance with state and federal laws!

Financial Statement

Due August 14, 2016
Safeguarding the finances of your AC is potentially the most important part of your role as an AC leader. HQ requires a copy of your financial statement that has been certified/approved by the board or an auditor and includes all revenue and disbursements in the Fiscal Year.

Lobbying

Each state has different laws pertaining to lobbying activities and defining what a "lobbyist" is. Visit the below links to learn about your state's laws and regulations!

The RID Board of Directors is hosting the second volunteer leader webinar on Tuesday, April 26th from 7:00-8:30 PM Eastern Time. Attendees include the affiliate chapter presidents and chairs of the RID member sections, councils, and active committees.
