Beans & Sprouts Event - Sat April 23

After a fantastic inaugural event in September last year, City South Association is happy to announce that our Beans & Sprouts event will return to the Princess Elizabeth Playground (South Tce) on Saturday April 23 10am-5pm. In partnership once again with Splash Adelaide, this free family day event will host food and coffee trucks, face painters, a petting zoo, balloon animals, great music and much more! A fantastic day out for all the family this Autumn! Check out the Facebook event here for all the details.

South West Heritage Walk - Wed May 4

Another HIstory Festival event is happening in our patch on Wed May 4 from 2pm. Starting at Queen Victoria Statue, the National Trust will be hosting a guided walk around the Precinct that was very much a working class area in the 19th Century. This tour will give you some insight into the rich history of this neglected corner of the city and the living conditions of its residents. Bookings are essential and the cost is $15 for Adults. For more information and to book, go to the History Festival website here.

Census of Land Use & Employment 2016

The Adelaide City Council will have survey staff contacting every business and organisation in the City between April and June this year to identify land use and employment statistics, with the results used in the Council's planning of services. This information is strictly confidential, is not shared with anyone outside the ACC and there is no obligation for businesses to participate.
The Census of Land Use and Employment is a statistical snapshot of the city’s employment, industries, land use, parking and venue capacities, and affects budgets for capital works, transport, programs and services. As such, the more businesses contribute, the better informed the ACC is, and subsequently, better decisions are then made.
If you have any questions please contact either Cate Moore via email here or Ph.82037527

New Cafe for Whitmore Square

Bar 9 Cafe operator Ian Callahan has teamed up with St Vincent De Paul to reinvigorate the old Illiad Restaurant site at 34 Whitmore Square as Bar 9 Outreach. It will be a fully fledged Cafe outlet to the general public whilst offering hospitality training for homeless and unemployed persons and a profit-sharing arrangement for the Charity. To read all about this fantastic concept, check out the InDaily article here. We wish both parties all the best in this inspired endeavour!

South West City Pub Trail - Sun May 1

Continuing on from the success of last years event, the South West City Community Association (SWCCA) is again hosting its South West City Pub Trail on Sunday May 1 11am-1pm, as part of this year's HIstory Festival
Our end of town has many beautiful and historic pubs, so join the locals as they wander through the streets and laneways, enjoying stories and discovering five of our fantastic pubs. It all finishes up at the Brunswick Hotel for a beverage or lunch if you desire. All the info is on the History Festival website here.

Community Forum Wed Apr 27

The Bendigo Bank will host a Community Forum on Wed April 27 at the Terrace of Bendigo Bank's head office at 80 Grenfell St at 6pm. The Forum will be a chance for attendees to provide ideas on Community needs and expand on the goodwill shown by numerous Precinct and Community Groups who expressed interest in funding and supporting ideas that benefit the wider community.
The Forum will focus on topics such as social and educational needs, as well as support for the aged, youth, homeless and the disadvantaged. The aim will be to agree on one or two projects where the Bendigo Bank will contribute $5000 to start. Contributions from other community groups, precincts and The Adelaide City Council will be sought.
City South has been offered a number of places at this event, so if any members are wishing to attend, please contact the coordinator here.
