Congratulations to our Women's Studies Graduates, Class of 2016!

Among other things, the Global Center for Women and Justice is an academic institution that works directly with the students of Vanguard University. We have several  student workers and interns to help us accomplish what we do, as well as over 30 students per year studying the issues we advocate for.

This month we celebrated 10 graduating Women's Studies Minor Students who have worked hard to Study the Issues, Be a Voice and Make a Difference. When students graduate with a minor in Women's Studies, they are prepared to enter their future workplaces with a well-rounded mindset of how all people should be treated with equality and dignity. The topics addressed in this minor teach students about traditional and cultural gender biases that transcend into every aspect of life. The Global Center for Women and Justice wants to ensure that all students are committed to be an Advocate for Justice among the most vulnerable groups in their communities. To learn more about the Women's Studies Minor that we offer for undergraduate level students, click LEARN MORE below.

Iraqi Women in Leadership

GCWJ received a grant in partnership with Iraqi Universities to foster the leadership capacity of and support for women leaders in Higher Education in Iraq through remote training, and advising on leadership development, policy, and advocacy within academia.

Five women academics, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, and one current university president from Iraq will travel to Vanguard University in July 2016.

Country Study :Romania 2016

Every year, GCWJ sends a team to do a country study on Human Trafficking as part of a 3-unit research class. This year, Dr. Morgan and former Deputy Chief Derek Marsh are leading a team of 5 Vanguard students to Bucharest, Romania to do research, training and volunteering with a local missionary.
Their trip extends from May 12-23, 2016 and we anticipate great results from the training they will conduct there.

Pornography:
Public Health Crisis, Pt 2

During this episode, Sandie and Dave talk about the issue that pornography plays in public health and how to combat it, using the predict and protect model.

The issue at hand is how pornography affects young people's view of self and sexuality. This episode also gives suggestions on what parents can do to aid in the child's protection from being exposed to inappropriate content online.
