April upgrade is complete
We are pleased to inform you that the big upgrade to our infrastructure on Sunday April 3, 2016 is now complete and we are already seeing performance and stability improvements as a result. We are seeing faster speeds but more importantly this upgrade allows us to make more upgrades to our server speeds every week without bringing our servers down.
This has been a priority for us as listed in the PKB development roadmap, because we want our users to access patient information as quickly as possible to ensure that a patient's care is accurate and safe. You can monitor our server status and any more planned upgrades on www.pkbstatus.com.
Thank you for your patience with us as we work to improve our infrastructure. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Growth charts for children
We're adding growth charts for children this month because they are an important tool for healthcare professionals to make an accurate clinical impression of the child's growth. This is one of the features for looking after children's records.
For patients up to 18 years of age, PKB plots the patient's key measurements on growth charts. By comparing to typical growth rates using data from the UK WHO growth charts, clinicians will use this feature to determine whether the child is growing appropriately. The growth charts will automatically appear at the top of the measurement page.

Surrey and Sussex trust are using PKB with IBD patients
At Surrey and Sussex, healthcare professionals are transforming care for IBD patients by integrating PKB with the hospital's Cerner Millennium electronic patient record. Along with specialists nurses, the new technology is helping patients manage their diseases at home and avoid A&E visits.
Dr. Azhar Ansari, the project lead and consultant gastroenterologist at Surrey and Sussex calls this "our Gutenberg moment in healthcare". Click here to read more.

PKB wins the 2016 Health Tech & You Champion award
We are celebrating the announcement that Dr. Mohammad Al-Ubaydli, CEO of PKB, has been named 2016 Health Tech & You Champion! It's a proud moment for us and we are excited to be recognized as a group that has most championed the uptake and adoption of health tech.

APA PPP Health Tech & You, a collaboration by APA PPP healthcare, 2020health and the Design Museum, have continued to assemble in their second year a high calibre list of winners and finalists who are demonstrating the variety of ways the health tech field is growing and changing the way patients are managing, understanding and accessing their health. Congratulations to all the winners, with a special mention to fellow Cambridge company Psyomics!

Introducing Joanne!

Joanne is a pharmacist, passionate about patient empowerment and the development of the health sector.
Working in pharmacy, her main focus has been on healthy aging. Having a desire to contribute, she completed a PhD in pharmaceutical formulation developing nanoparticles. Aware that she had too much empathy to remain in a laboratory, she decided to work closer to the public. Most recently she's been working in the European Commission at the eHealth Unit in Brussels to help shape EU policy in this area.
It was while working with Ashoka in 2012 that Joanne was first introduced to Patients Know Best. Owing to her experience as both a patient and heath professional, she was immediately drawn to the PKB mission, recognising how PKB could help bridge gaps.
Joanne thinks on an international level which inspires her to travel, teach yoga and seek sustainable solutions.
