MDE Ministry Highlight: Shuttle Service Micro-Loan
MDE is committed to self-sustaining and reproducible business and ministry models. Brother M is a national, full-time Christian ministry worker collaborating with an MDE member. He has recently launched a training focus that we believe will lead to multiplying churches throughout his country. He leads a small church and is supported by the denomination with a minimal salary through additional responsibilities. These responsibilities often take him away from his family and ministry area. His family includes six children--one of whom is in college and the youngest who has cerebral palsy which requires constant in-home care. Brother M's wife, with the help of her other children, is the main care-giver.
In order to facilitate the growth of this training ministry and to insure a stable income for his family, Brother M approached us for a 3-year micro-loan to buy a van so he could start a shuttle service. His shuttle service will have a regular route to one of the main economic hubs in the country and also provide private shuttle services. The process of obtaining the loan has taken a full year. Brother M needed to become more aware of what his business would entail, and God has given him several mentors who will continue to work with him. He has financial accountability and has committed to on-going business training. Also during that year, MDE was working with Brother M to develop his business plan and was seeking investors for the $21,500 loan that was needed.
This week we were able to tell Brother M that all the funds have been pledged and will soon be transferred after which he can begin his business. The immediate response was “Praise the Lord” and then a big sigh of relief. Please pray for Brother M that God would protect his family and establish his business and ministry.
