Recycle Your Old Cell Phone Today
In honor of Earth Day on April 22, here are some earth-friendly sites that will allow you to dispose of your old cell phones with care:
- Retail stores, such as Best Buy, Staples, RadioShack, Sears and Lowe's all accept cell phones and their rechargeable batteries for proper disposal
- Wireless service stores, such as Verizon, Sprint and AT&T, will take back your old devices sometimes even offering an in-store or account credit
- Non-profit organizations often take phones as well; sometimes Churches accept them as a form of fundraising, and other organizations will refurbish them for use by our troops, elderly, homeless and victims of domestic violence
Before you donate/recycle your phone, always be sure to delete all of your personal information from the device. You can do this by removing the SIM and SD cards, and by doing a factory reset on your phone.
