Snow is melting and tulips will soon be popping out of the ground, reminding us that summer is just around the corner. As begin the month of April, we have 2 very important weeks to celebrate.
- National Volunteer week is April 10 -16. A volunteer is defined as “a person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task”. The NBSMLT would like to take this opportunity to thank all of it’s volunteers, past and present, for all their dedication towards self-regulating our profession. There is no better way to lift your spirits or feel a strong sense of personal and or professional accomplishment when volunteering. No matter what the organization, giving your time to something that is bigger and bolder than yourself is the most selfless act possible. Take a chance, get out there and volunteer, maybe right in your own back yard at the NBSMLT!
- National Medical Laboratory Week is from April 24 -30. Let’s be bold this year, let’s put ourselves out there in the public eye. Show your friends and family your pride within your profession. Organize a lab tour, tell stories of our profession, invite other professionals to your work for cake and tea. Let’s make this week the time to light the fire for the next generation of laboratory professionals. No matter how you celebrate the week, make sure you show your professional colors and pride, love your profession like a neutrophil loves bacteria or how Streptococcus Pyogenes loves a blood agar plate. Happy National Medical Laboratory week to the most amazing group of professionals on the planet!

ABOUT MED LAB WEEK
Since 1985, the CSMLS has sponsored a special week in April to promote awareness and understanding of the role of medical laboratory professionals in the health care system.
To help celebrate this special week, CSMLS provides posters, brochures and other promotional material, free-of-charge to members, to educate the public about the important work done in the lab. An online toolkit is available for those who prefer the “do-it-yourself” approach with free downloadable items to help you mark the occasion.
The CSMLS and NBSMLT encourage you to advocate on behalf of the profession and to celebrate NMLW with your colleagues.

Message du président de l'ATLMNB, Greg Shaw
La neige qui fond et les tulipes qui fleurissent nous rappellent que l'été est juste au tournat. Nous avons 2 semaines très importantes à célébrer au mois d’avril :
1. La semaine nationale des bénévoles est du 10-16 avril. Un bénévole est défini comme «une personne qui offre librement de prendre part à une entreprise ou d'entreprendre une tâche". L’ATLMNB aimerait reconnaitre tous les bénévoles présent et passé, pour leur dévouement à la réglementation professionnelle. Il n'y a pas de meilleure façon d'enrichir votre esprit ou d'avoir un fort sentiment d'accomplissement personnel et professionnel lors du bénévolat. Peu importe l'organisation, donner votre temps à quelque chose qui est plus grand et plus audacieux que vous-même est l'acte le plus désintéressé possible. Prenez une chance, osez et soyez bénévoles, peut-être même dans votre propre arrière-cour à l'ATLMNB!
2. Semaine nationale de laboratoire médical est du 24-30 avril. Soyons audacieux cette année, allons nous mettre en avant du public! Montrez à vos amis et votre famille votre fierté au sein de votre profession. Organisez une visite de laboratoire, racontez des histoires de notre profession, invitez d'autres professionnels à votre travail pour du gâteau et du thé. Que cette semaine allumer la flamme de la prochaine génération de professionnels de laboratoire. Peu importe la façon dont vous célébrez la semaine, assurez-vous de montrer vos couleurs et votre fierté professionnelle, aimez votre profession comme un neutrophile aime les bactéries et comme les Streptococcus pyogenes aiment une gélose de sang. Bonne semaine nationale de laboratoire au groupe le plus incroyable de professionnels de la planète!

à PROPOS DE LA SEMAINE LABO
Depuis 1985, la SCSLM a parrainé une semaine spéciale en Avril pour promouvoir la sensibilisation et la compréhension du rôle des professionnels de laboratoire médical dans le système de soins de santé.
Pour aider à célébrer cette semaine spéciale, la SCSLM fournit des affiches, et autre matériel promotionnel, libre de charge aux membres, pour éduquer le public sur le travail important réalisé dans le laboratoire. Une boîte à outils en ligne est disponible pour ceux qui préfèrent l'approche «DIY » avec des articles téléchargeables pour vous aider à marquer l'occasion.
La SCSLM et l'ATLMNB vous encouragent à faire la promotion de notre profession et vous invitent à célébrer avec vos collègues.
