Dear Families,

Welcome back! We hope that you have enjoyed a wonderful spring break filled with lots of rest and family time. As we head into this week, we want to remind everyone that this is the week that we start testing with the Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress (MStep). Students will take the test online during the following weeks:

Grades 5, 8: April 11 – April 29 (ELA, Math, Social Studies)
Grades 3, 6: April 25 – May 13 (ELA, Math)
Grades 4, 7: May 9 – May 27 (ELA, Math, Science)

Please be sure to check with your student's teacher to know which days and times your student will be testing.

To help your student be prepared for testing they should have plenty of rest, a good breakfast, and arrive in a timely fashion. Most testing has been scheduled to begin at 8:30 am.

If you are interested in more information about the MStep, you can find information at the Michigan Department of Education website: https://www.michigan.gov/mde/0,4615,7-140-22709_70117---,00.html or read the letter to families from State Superintendent, Brian J. Whitson: https://www.michigan.gov/documents/mde/M-STEP_Parent_Letter_032416_518651_7.pdf.

Have a great week!
LOST AND FOUND

Please check the lost and found area for any of your students items they may have misplaced.  It is full-so make sure to check it out!

Welcome back, y'all.

With just two months left in the school year, it's time to buckle down and fund raise for next school year!  Please contact PTSO with your donation information for the Spring Fling.  We still need whatever time you can spare to solicit!

On Friday, April 22, we will have a blowout movie night from 5 to 8 pm featuring Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the Peanuts movie.  Use this as an opportunity for an adult only meal, or come volunteer at the event and have a Jedi-tastic time with the kids!  Each volunteer gets one free student admission.

From Kids Club...

We're starting up a new round of clubs at Kids Club!

Clubs are the heart of our program; they are initiated by children, led by staff members and open to everyone. They are small break-out sessions that happen during regular Kids Club time, doing activities around a specific topic.
Clubs are an excellent opportunity for learning pro-social behaviors; they offer children the opportunity to learn important skills such as their role in a group, success outside of academics, personal responsibility and accountability to a group. Clubs happen during regular afternoon Kids Club time.

Current schedule of clubs:
Monday – Nature/Recycling Club and Superhero Club
Tuesday – Car Club and Karaoke Club
Wednesday – Video Game Club and Food & Dessert Club
Thursday – Stuffed Animal Club
Friday – DIY/Craft Club and Fairy Club

We would love to have your child drop in and join us for a club they might be interested in!
For more information about registering for a drop-in, contact Rachel Tewari, AALC Kids Club Director: 734.761.7101Rachel@communitydaycareinc.org
