Experimenting in your journal
At first, I thought this week's newsletter was going to be about mindfulness since that's the focus of the new journal page I've created for you. The more I thought about it, though, the more I realized this week's newsletter is actually about experimentation.

This week I'm trying something new. It stems from an idea sent to me by a very generous reader. Her idea involves two areas I haven't spent a lot of time thinking about or working on and I've been a bit stuck on how or whether to proceed. Finally, I decided to experiment a bit with a journal page -- something I'm much more familiar with.

Which brings me to this week's journal page . . .
You might notice that this journal page looks different from ones I've created in the past. I've always offered journals to which you can add your own colour, but this page takes one big step in the direction of a colouring page as well as a journal page. Does it work? I'm not sure, but I've reached the point at which I've summoned enough courage to send it out into the world. I have no idea how it will be received. It could land with a resounding thud.

The upside of experimentation is discovery, but the downside can feel like failure. And this is where I hold my journal dear. My journal is the place I'll go regardless of how this experiment turns out -- to reflect on my results and generate ideas about how to proceed.

The point I'm coming to, slowly, is that your journal is a safe place, a private place, where you can think new ideas, consider new approaches, and contemplate big changes without judgment. And that is a wonderful thing.
Because it takes courage to try something new or to try something you've done many times before in a new way. And before you're ready to share your brave new ideas, you can write them down, think them through, and then rethink them, if need be, in your journal. Just as I have done to get to this week's journal page.

And so, this week, I encourage you to experiment in your journal. Write down your new ideas. Write about how you'll implement them. Write about the challenges you think you might face and plan for ways to face them head on. And when you've summoned your courage, go out there and make your ideas a reality!

Oh, and give this week's page a try, too. You'll need to add your own colour to this one and as you do, I hope it brings you gently into the now, where just about anything is possible.

Best wishes and happy journaling,
Christie
