Academic Success Week – Next week is the week before finals meaning it’s Academic Success Week. Adding to the festive occasion, the dancers of FSC’s company-in-residence, the Florida Dance Theatre, will perform in selected pieces from their distinctive company repertoire. Admission is free to FSC faculty, staff, and students, and tickets may be picked up at the Branscomb Box Office.

FSC’s Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Kira Omelchenko, offers an extraordinary program of music designed to showcase the beauty and breadth of this treasured medium in “Symphonic Celebrations” on Thursday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. in Branscomb Auditorium. Celebrating beloved repertoire from Beethoven’s dramatic “Egmont Overture” to Rimsky-Korsakov’s colorful “Capriccio Espagnol,” this concert will also feature performances by the winners of the orchestra’s annual concerto/aria competition.  Free to the FSC community, admission is free, and tickets are available at the Branscomb Box Office.

From the Counseling Center:
So Long, Farewell, Auf Weidersehen, Goodbye.  In a few days, you and your student will take part in our graduation ceremony, a great tradition that symbolizes the ending of one phase of life’s journey and the beginning of another.  You’ll no longer be the parent of a college student—you’ll be the parent of a college graduate!  This impressive accomplishment is made possible, in part, by your commitment to your child’s education and your support of the College and its goals.  You’ve been an important member of our FSC family.  We hope you know how much we value you.  (We definitely include you among our “favorite things,” along with raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens.)   As you and your student move on, we hope you’ll continue to feel a part of our College family and stay connected to FSC.  Maybe instead of saying goodbye, we’ll just say, “See you soon.” And if your student is not a graduating senior, we look forward to continuing to work together next fall.

From the FSC Career Center:

Final Thoughts – And so we come to the end. This week’s edition is the last for the academic year and for some families, the last they will receive as their student is handed a well-earned diploma from Florida Southern College. We’ve been your student’s home through the years. The knowledge they’ve obtained, the friends they’ve made, it’s all been a part of becoming that individual who will go out and make a consequential impact on society. We salute them and you, the cheering crowd, who encouraged them and helped them dream. It’s been a pleasure.

All the best – Shari
