Join us for Passover! We are offering five Seders this year for students and community members to choose from.
- Traditional Seder – the traditional seder, led by AISH Penn State
- Freedom Seder – a social justice seder focusing on the theme of freedom and liberation during Passover
- LGBTQA Seder – a seder focused on LGBTQA issues, freedom, and equal rights for all
- Musical Seder – reform/music seder which infuses modern music with traditional songs and open discussion in a modern liberal Seder. Hagaddah. Learn new (and classic) Passover songs.
- Not Your Bubbe’s Seder – a non-traditional, boisterous seder based on theOn-One-Foot Hagaddah.

- Students: $18 advance; $25 door price
- Non-students: $36 advance; $45 door price
Waring Hall Commons will offer Kosher for Passover food options through out the entire week. The buffet will be supervised by AISH Penn State’s Rabbi Ricki Vigon.

iFest 2016: Taking over the HUB Lawn

Each year, Yom Ha’atzmaut celebrates the anniversary of David Ben-Gurion publicly reading the Israeli Declaration of Independence. This year, the holiday is May 12, 2016. Since Penn State students will already be home for the summer, the Students Supporting Israel held I-Fest on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 to commemorate this joyous day.
Students Supporting Israel (SSI) is an international non-profit organization with many over 40 chapters on college campuses. They aim to be the pro-Israel voice at colleges, celebrating not just Israel in a political sense but also in a cultural sense.
Outgoing SSI President Abby London explained, “Throughout the year, Students Supporting Israel at Penn State hosted events discussing all aspects of Israel. As a culmination of this year’s efforts, we wanted to have one last event and decided we should simply celebrate. Israel isn’t perfect; we acknowledge that, but to everyone involved in SSI, there isn’t another place in the world quite like her.”
At iFest, there were tons of tables that represented different aspects of Israel. A food table offered pitas with falafel and Israeli salad. Another table included mud from the Dead Sea, which is very good for the skin. Another table had virtual reality glasses, that when worn by someone, that person was able to take a tour of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, truly feeling like they were in Israel.
Israel Fellow and SSI Staff Advisor Itai Niderman explained that his favorite table was a sheet where students were able to draw graffiti similarly to how there is graffiti all over the city of Tel Aviv.
SSI teamed up with Penn State Hillel to host this fun-filled festival. Abby London said, “Planning iFest took a little over three months and I couldn’t have done it without the help of Hillel. Being able to share Israel with the Penn State community made all of the seemingly endless emails and phone calls worth it.”
Incoming SSI President Robby Ost added, “Planning iFest with Abby and the rest of the SSI board was definitely stressful at times, though it was so great to see how successfully it turned out!” He concluded by explaining why SSI is so important to him by stating, “I’ve developed a passion for Israel from my experiences traveling and interning there. I love advocating for and supporting Israel here at Penn State!”
