Track & Field Day on Thursday
Wilkinson's Track and Field day is set for Thursday, April 28th. This is a day for students to enjoy being outside and active doing a variety of track and field events. Students are reminded to dress for active participation (running shoes, shorts, track pants) and to check the forecast (sunscreen, hat and a jacket may be needed). Some of the top performers will be invited to join the track and field team to compete in early May.

Open House at Wilkinson
The annual Wilkinson Junior Public School Open House will take place on Thursday, May 5th from 10.00 to 11:00 am and again from 2:00 to 3.00 pm. This is a great opportunity to visit the school to meet the faculty and staff. Student Ambassadors will give a guided tour of the school, so please feel free to drop in.

The Open House coincides with the Art Show that's on from May 2-6 in Room 3. Every child has a piece of work in the Art Show, so be sure to come admire the artistic talents of our students. 

Photos Needed for Yearbook!
This year's grade 6 yearbook is underway and we are looking for photos from throughout the school year - from concerts, clubs, teams, classrooms, assemblies, etc., Photos of grade 6 students are the priority but any and all photos will be considered.

We are also looking for baby photos for the yearbook’s ‘Guess Who’ section of grade 6 grads as babies. This is a very popular section and it would be great to have a photo of every grade 6 graduate this year. Photos of your child should be from before their first birthday.

The deadline for these submissions is Wednesday, June 1st. Photos files can be sent to Mr. Krentz by email. Alternatively, if a photo is brought in, it will be copied and returned as soon as possible.

Barbara Reid Visit Recap
Last week, K-2 classes were treated with a visit from Barbara Reid. To learn more about her visit, read the recent post on the Wilkinson Library Blog. In addition, Barbara Reid agreed to be interviewed for the Wilkinson podcast. You can listen to the interview by grade 2 student, Eshal.

Parent Council Meeting
The next meeting of the Wilkinson School Community Council is on Monday, May 2nd from 6:30 - 8:00 pm in the library.* 

Childcare is available upon request. All parents/guardians are welcome, you don't need to be a member to attend.

Slices for Devices Reminder
Pizza Pizza is running their 13th annual Slices for Devices program this month and has invited Wilkinson to collect electronic devices that are no longer being used in exchange for free pizza! With the help of Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA) and Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES), the devices collected will be recycled safely and securely, and proceeds from the process will be donated to Children’s Miracle Network.

For every 40″x48″x36″ bin we fill with electronics, Pizza Pizza will give us a $25 gift card. See the EcoSchool page on the Wilkinson website for a list of acceptable items, and look for the collection bins outside of Room 3! We can accept items until the end of April. 

Learning Garden Cleanup
The annual cleanup of the Learning Garden is scheduled for Saturday, May 7th from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and we would love to have your help! Please be prepared to bring your own gloves and tools, and visit the Wilkinson website for more details. 

Pizza Lunch on Friday
This Friday, April 29th is a pizza lunch day. Children who participate in the program do not need to bring a lunch to school. Parent volunteers are always welcome. See you in the gym!
