Hello Everyone!

We've left Virginia and are now in North Carolina. From near Shenandoah National Park area we headed to the coast and spent a few days exploring Colonial Williamsburg before continuing on across the 21-mile Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to the Delmarva Peninsula (DELaware, MARyland, and VA for Virginia). This area is also known as the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

There isn't a lot out there except for some rural fishing towns and some beautiful marshland, sand dunes, and barrier islands. And an old WWII bunker.
We were there to visit a few barrier islands in particular: Chincoteague and Assateague Islands. Now, if none of those ring any bells, then you probably haven't read Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry. It is a children's book that came out in 1947 that made the area and the wild ponies on the islands famous.
After seeing the wild ponies we headed to Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We were there long enough to see Tom's cousin, the Wright Memorial (so cool), and Jockey's Ridge State Park (the largest sand dunes on the east coast) before the wind, cold, and much too expensive camping fees blew us back to the mainland.
Now we are back in Cornelius, North Carolina boondocking on the same farm we were on in the fall. We are visiting with friends, getting some work done, and recharging for our next adventure up into the Blue Ridge Mountains again! We have some friends to see in Boone and this time we will definitely be making it to Asheville!
