In addition to trying to loosen up my brush strokes, I've been playing with adding fantastical elements to my figure paintings. I suspect there will be more of this as I start my next series.

Painters Painting Painters Show
From now until the show closes in November, I'll be doing a regular section about the Painters Painting Painters show. It's a show that I conceived and am helping to coordinate at Davis Gallery this fall.
The show will feature ten Austin-based figure painters: Jennifer Balkan, Chris Chappell, Felice House, Karen Maness, Revi Meicler, Karen Offutt, Mike Peterson, Johnnie Sielbeck, Robert Summerlin and me.
Each painter will create two portraits of other artists in the show as well as a self-portrait. It will be interesting to see how the same subject matter will be transformed by each artist's interpretation and style.
