A couple of Sundays ago we talked about how difficult it can be for Jesus’ followers, both in the early days of the Church and today, to recognize the risen Jesus.  After he rose from the dead Jesus came to his followers and friends and on at least three occasions they failed to recognize him, that is until Jesus made them able to recognize him. In the same way, though Jesus promises his followers today that he is with us by his Spirit, we often find it difficult to trust this promise and to recognize when or how it is that he is with us. And yet, once again I believe that it is Jesus who makes us able to trust his promise and at different times and in different ways to see and recognize that he is with us.

But in the gospel for this coming Sunday the focus is moved from recognizing Jesus to recognizing his followers and how it is that Jesus means for the world to recognize us.  “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples,” Jesus says, “if you have love for one another.”

This is how Jesus says “everyone” will recognize who exactly his disciples are, but what exactly does that love look like, and how do his disciples today make sure they are practicing that love?

I hope you’re able to join us on Sunday as we worship together and look at these questions more closely.
Please remember the following in your prayers this week.

Curious about what difference the Resurrection of Jesus could possibly make for us today?

“Surprised by Hope” is a six session video-based study featuring N.T. Wright that is designed to help us explore the full and breathtaking hope which Jesus and his Resurrection offers the world, and to better understand the implications of that hope for our lives today.

Join us as we take a closer look at the power of the Resurrection with Anglican Bishop and world class scholar N.T.  Wright.

Making our Worship Space More Accessible

For our church to serve the spiritual lives of as many of our neighbours as possible our worship space must be as accessible and versatile as possible.

For this reason we are continuing to explore options for adopting a more accessible and versatile seating arrangement in the worship space of St. Paul's, and as part of this process we are inviting all members of our parish to a "moving meeting" on
Monday, April 23rd
Hampton United Church (HUC)
7:30pm.

We're calling it a moving meeting because after gathering at HUC to examine their seating arrangement we will be continuing on to the Atlantic Community Church, Hampton (14 Centennial Rd) to see a similar approach to seating in a very different space.

The accessibility and versatility of the space in which we gather are absolutely vital to the fruitfulness and effectiveness of our life and ministry together.

We hope you will join us, therefore, as we seek to make the life and ministry of our church even more fruitful.
