Online learning

The British Museum teamed up with Google's Cultural Institute to start the Herculean task of organizing all of the museum's artifacts in a digital space. In an even cooler and unimaginable process a separate online experience was created to get up close and personal with history throughout the world. Scroll from today back to 2,000,000 B.C.E. and discover something (or everything) about Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, Oceania. You have to click to the page to hear this subtle, satisfying sound that plays as you travel through time and place.

Educate yourself

  • Take an interactive tour of a detailed triptych (three-paneled artwork) by Dutch painter Jheronimus Bosch. Learn about the late 15th-century painting, "The Garden of Earthly Delights" that now sits at the Museo de Prado in Madrid.
  • The Cantor museum on Stanford's campus is one of my favorite (free!) art museums to visit in the Bay Area. They've put together an interactive collection of late artist Richard Diebenkorn's sketchbooks. Peek through all 29 books filled with drawings and other material.
  • Learn more about violent extremism than you thought possible in this online lesson from the FBI. They've created something of a video game with detailed graphics and scenes to teach about the dangers and tendencies of getting recruited by political dissidents, terrorists and others.

Note from Sasha: My website, KeepingTabs.online is up, but not quite fully functioning -- yet! I'm designing, adding content and coding away (yes, thanks to help from my j-school lecturer Allison). So check it out, but be patient and kind to the work-in-progress.
Keep up
